Watches NEWS
U.S. ADs selling pre-owned above MSRP
An AD that I visit has a small pre-owned section and happened to have a (essentially new) hard to find watch there sold at a mark-up consistent with grey market prices. This particular model was explained as a 2 week old trade in that still appeared to have the stickers on it. Now, I don’t blame them for selling the watch at prevailing market, but in theory, they could basically just put a friends name on the warranty card declare it used, and now sell at the higher price. Not sure if this something Rolex would have a problem with, but just curious how everyone else’s ADs are responding to these secondary market prices we’ve seen over the last year+?
Daily beater but which one..
looking for a daily beater..Currently I have..a) TT Sub(BLack) 116613LN - my first Rolexb) Daytona Ceramic (white) 116500LN c) AP 15202st Extra Thinb&c I added last year which I baby them because I am not going to sell them ever. Number A I don't wear it to work because I think its flashy and its not getting enough wrist time and I may or may not sell it in future because its my first Rollie and even my wife is against selling it.So I have short listed the following models1)Sub LV (Hulk)2)Date Sub LN ((black)3)BLNR (Batman)I would like to add Sub with date someday but Hulk's hype is getting into me and of course the dial of the hulk is stunning.
Stainless sport model shortage... not in my market!
So I have been inquiring on these boards about ADs in the New Orleans, Fort Worth, and Austin markets. We have two local Rolex ADs. One is a Lee michaels, which has a pretty low inventory with regards to stainless sport models but a nice selection of DJ DD and some ladies models. The other AD (which I passed by today) had just about every stainless sport model that I could think of. Only thing missing was a sub date which the gentleman informed me had sold earlier in the week. I was able to try on the BLNR and the no date sub but in the case was a black GMT, Sub no date, deep blue, deep sea sea dweller, the smaller sea dweller, a (SD43 which I was tempted to try on) and explorer II black face and a white face if I recall correctly, and a couple of milgaus as well as a few yacht masters. The cupboard was far from bare!!! I'm not sure why some markets are dried up but this one AD is well stocked! All that said... I think I'm going to pull the trigger on the BLNR when I get back from New Or
Blue dial gold Daytona
Looking for one. I've only seen one for sale. I'd like to put a blue leather band on it. Richard B36mm datejust, Custom Explorer, Pepsi, Hulk, yellow gold dd2
Sub like new
I finally got my Submariner back from the AD in Englewood, Colorado. I have to say that it shines like a new watch although I originally bought it in the Base Exchange in the early - mid 70's. I paid about $175.00 for it because it was a return and didn't have any box or papers. I plan to gift it to my step son in a week or so because he is the kind of man you hope your daughter will bring home from college .To complete the deal I would like to tell him the vintage of the piece and I'm hoping someone here could close the loop for me so I can tell him some of the history of it:model: 5513ser. no:6128020I served in Southern Command from mid-1970 through late 1975 and I think I bought the watch early 1970's.Thank you.Jerry Crawford.
