Close-Up: Omega Speedmaster Grey Side of the Moon
To accompany its highly successful Dark Side of the Moon collection, Omega launched the Omega Speedmaster Grey Side of the Moon last year. Fashioned from ceramic and platinum, the watch features several design elements that distinguish it from other Omega watches. The watch’s look is inspired by the lunar dust that captured the footprints of the Apollo astronauts in the iconic images beamed back to Earth. When creating this watch, Omega had to employ a special process to capture the color of the lunar surface. The ceramic material starts out white, but it takes on the required darker hue in a high-temperature plasma furnace. Exposed to a proprietary mix of gasses at a temperature of 36,000 degrees Fahrenheit for three hours, the ceramic emerges in a shimmering grey. This unique ceramic is used to create the case, caseback, bezel, crown, pushers and buckle of this 44.25-mm timepiece. In another first for Omega, the engraved tachymetric scale on the bezel is filled with Super-Lum
Planet Ocean Chrono
Is the bezel on the planet ocean Chrono a ceramic one?I know the orange is not, and I know the blue is the liquid metal version, but I am asking about the black version? I can't see to find anything definitive about it... Thanks!
speedmaster lume question
Hi Guys... my first post here on this thread. I have a speedmaster pro which i bought new in 06. I was checking it out the other day with my new loop and I see a tiny piece of lume missing on the 12 o'clock marker. Its so tiny but right in the center of the marker. I have seen missing lume on vintage Rolex before but never on vintage speedmaster. have you seen this before? does this happen often? will it get worse? can it be fixed?Thanks!!PS- wish i could take a pic and show you but I cant get my camera to focus that small
Patek metal codes
I think most of us know the metal letter designations used by Patek...a - steelg - white goldj - yellow goldp - platinumr - rose goldI'm curious about the derivation? I get r for rose, j for jaune (French for yellow) and p for platinum. How do you get a and g?
New guy interested in Panerai
I've absolutely fallen in love with the look of these watches and the price. Very afforable, and gorgeous. I'm thinking about getting a GMT complication.. Could you guys tell me about these watches and help me pull the trigger? I've only dealt with Rolex so far but I'm ready to move on. Do they appreciate in value and don't depreciate? How's the movements, what complications would you suggest? Sorry for being a noob
