Watches NEWS
visited NY boutique today
have been eyeing the 15450 in YG for some time now.thought it'd be too small at 37mm, relative to the jumbo.but dammit if it doesn't wear oh so nicely.have a day-date president in YG (36mm), and the 15450 feels so much more substantial on wrist. having the DD has gotten me accustomed to enjoying sub-39mm sizes.but the heft and case lugs make the 15450 wear larger than 37.unsure if having 2 YG full bracelet watches is just too much.the DD is a perennial classic, understated and gentlemanly.whilst the 15450 is pure stunning... but the size allows it to be such without having to scream outloud for attention... which, IMO, might be the case if 40mm (given my wrist isn't particularly large at 7).as nice as the OR with grey dial is, the YG with blue is the clear winner for me.
HELP NEEDED :) question about a vintage premoon speedmaster
Hey guys, long time visitor here, and have made posts here and there, but I'm in a bit of a conundrum and I'm hoping members of this forum could help me out :)I've come across a rare gem that happened to pop up for sale in my neck of the woods, it looks to be a 1968 omega speedmaster premoon with a 321 movement. I've attached some pics of the watch below. The watch looks to be refinished and hands do not look era correct (someone please help me confirm this). My question is, if all is original, except the hands, how much does this damage the value of this watch? And how much would a new set of hands cost?Seller is asking $6,500 for the watch as is.Thanks guys and gals, any input at all would be greatly appreciated!!!
What would you choose? A 5036/1G or 5040J?
First post on the forums! I've been a member since November but have been lurking and learning a whole lot. Went from a set of forgettable Movados to a small collection of timepieces that serve very specific purposes in my simple life: right now I have a 3940P, 5711/1A, 3919J and a Rolex 114270. The people in this forum helped a whole lot in terms of helping me field sources, choosing between ADs and greys, etc. - for this, many, many thanks!I'm looking to add another piece to my set and I'm faced with an interesting decision:1. The 5036/1G - annual calendar in white gold. I like the metal bracelet (helps that it's a whole lot of gold, too), and I love the calendar and moonphase function. Metal bracelets would be very welcome when things heat up during the Spring and summer - leather straps just don't last given my sweat patterns and volume!2. The 5040J - tonneau case perpetual calendar. To lower the price and make it comparable to the 5036/1G option I'll need to trade in my 391
Deconstructing a Sub
