Watches NEWS
Initial Impression: Bulova 96A102 Commemorative Hack Watch
I was drawn to the Bulova 96A102 for a few reasons: It has a seconds subdial, it can be found reliably for under $100 and its looks, though military, are from a very different era and it stands out amongst the current crop of military inspired watches. Turns out that this watch is a reissue of the hack watch that Bulova made for the US armed forces during World War 2. For those who don't know, a hack watch is a mechanical watch where the seconds hand can be stopped for exact setting of time, which is very necessary for synchronizing soldiers. This reissue is a quartz movement, so the second stops as well, but it is technically not a hack movement. Regardless, the history of this watch adds authenticity to its design, and makes it a more interesting piece. So far, I find the watch to be a great purchase. It is well built, but on the lighter side, making it very comfortable to wear, especially in the warm weather. It measures 40 x 11mm with a lug width of 20mm, so it is a nice medium size
What do you think about this novelty ?
Don't know the price, but if reasonable i am thinking about changing my steel roc blue dial with this piece. I think this is stunning.
Where to buy an Orange stitched PO strap?
Hey guys,I bought my PO at an AD... I would like to have that orange stitched strap... Will the AD order it? Is Ebay a good place (but I worry about it being fake). Any resources will be great. What can I expect to pay? Thanks
How the news broke!...
I'm not a prolific forum poster by any means yet visit multiple times a day! Though a recent notification of arrival has spurred me onI'm normally the recipient of emails from a demanding customer or my manager wanting to discuss the next crisis so imagine my surprise when the following popped in my inbox!Subject: 5131RHi JohnAre you sat down? The 5131R is ready for delivery! Could you let me know your home address so Patek can print it on the warranty for usKind regardsAndrewIt got my attention alright, my co-workers thinking I'd had a funny turn by my reaction! All being well I will collect my watch on my birthday very soon.
Gold hands
I never quite understood the appeal of gold hands in a steel cased Panerai until yesterday. WOW! In the right light, they REALLY GLOW / STAND OUT against the dial. It even seems to enhance legibility (although that's not much of an issue on a big faced Panerai watch). Mesmerizing. Anyone have pics of what I'm talking about?
