Konstantin Chaykin is quite a rare bird in the world of independent horology, in that he works outside of Switzerland. today i finally part-exchanged my panerai PAM00421 for a calatrava 5227R. this is actually the closest i want to get to a dress watch. the nice thing is that the 5227 can be dressed up or down (usually i go for the latter:::))). the ivory lacquer dial and the breguet hands are really very very nice, as is the case back, that can be opened to show great reflections. i will retire my nautilus for a while and see how it goes with the 5227R:::)))

It all began on a Thursday night last week. Decided to pop by the local grey dealer for a chat and coffee. Now, the SD43 was a piece never really on my radar.
