How To Sell Watches Without Selling Watches
People who read aBlogtoReadwatches-dealer are generally rather enthusiastic watch lovers. They buy watches because of the design, movement and of course the utility of the piece. You people are actually the elite bunch among the world of watch consumers. The industry calls you anything from "collector" to "enthusiast" and sometimes if you are lucky, "influencer." However, the industry does not see you as the mainstream and that is because you generally are not. The mainstream these days sees the watch itself as the secondary reason to buying a watch. For them, it is about status, fashion, art and lifestyle. You can disagree with me all you like, but just visit your local department store and see what's for sale in the watch department. The fact that watches don't often sell watches actually makes it easier for big brand names and events to sell timepieces. Episode 92 was recorded while in Geneva, and is a good one to start off the season of watch shows. See the new embedded podcast player below or go here to listen to episode 92.
The Longines Heritage Diver 1967 (Live Pics & Pricing)
Over the past few years, Longines has done a particularly fine job reviving its rather interesting past. As one can clearly see when watching the likes of a mega-collector Alfredo Paramico wax poetically about the brand, it is clear there is much to work with. This year at Basel, we saw some nice, reasonably priced and well designed classics brought back to life. Here is the Heritage Diver 1967. 1 OF 6 This bordeaux-bezeled beauty takes inspiration from a watch initially produced and sold back in 1967, originally powered by the excellent caliber 30CH. Now, the diving chronograph is revived in 42 mm featuring the Calibre L688.2, a column-wheel chrono made by ETA exclusively for Longines. The 13¼ line caliber has a power reserve of 54 hours. 2 OF 6 The case back features the masked man it did back in the late '60s, and gives the piece a nice retro feel. The entirely steel watch is water resistant to 30 bar, or 300 meters, which means someone could i

Bezel problem with new complete service
New member, first post. Older Submariner 5513 bought new in 1989 at Kirk Freeport, Grand Cayman. I sent the watch to them by a friend for a complete service a few months ago and picked it up recently. The bezel was tight but I thought it would free up. It has instead gotten much tighter. I popped the bezel off last night and was surprised to find that there is no spring washer. Is there a new design for retaining the bezel? Any ideas on what course of action I may take to loosen the bezel.
