Ulysse Nardin and Visconti Create Unique Fountain Pen
For more than 165 years, Ulysse Nardin has created exclusive timepieces. Now the manufacture from Le Locle has teamed up with writing instrument specialist Visconti to present a classic communication tool the reflects the finest traditions of passion and craftsmanship. The fountain pen is hewn from a block of deep Ulysse Nardin blue resin. More than 20 steps are required to produce the resin sections alone. The metal parts, made of 18k gold or .925 sterling silver, are produced in Florence at the Visconti headquarters. The pen’s patented mechanical parts offer many attractive features, such as the bayonet closure system with safety mechanism whereby the cap can be locked shut with just a quarter turn. The filling system provides maximum writing autonomy – equivalent to about 10 ink cartridges. Another system prevents ink spillage during flights. The famous Visconti triple-channel ink feed, unique in the world, is the same color as the resin and allows for optimal ink flow t
iPhone App Smart Enough To Read Watch Names
When "Watch Radar" sent me an e-mail about their new iPhone app that is able to detect the name of a watch just by looking at the dial I was intrigued. Until now we've all had to read the name of a brand on a watch dial to know what it is - but no longer. Finally technology has come to the rescue. Using the camera on your iPhone, the Chinese made Watch Radar app takes a picture of the said watch and uses its whiz-bang technology to scan the internet and read the name for you. Wow! It even goes so far as to pull data from the net and give you some brand history. Now this is the future.Watch recognition has come a long way for sure. Those pesky luxury watch makers usually print their brand names in complicated English, even if the brands themselves aren't based in English speaking countries. No fair! Watch Radar is there to look at your Rolex and tell you that for sure, the name on the dial is Rolex. It can even tell you the model of many watches - now this is progress. At this point I in

Introducing: The NOMOS Glashtte Neomatik 'First Edition' Watches, With Automatic Caliber DU
NOMOS Glashütte has been around since 1990, believe it or not – here at HODINKEE we find it hard to imagine that the company’s already a quarter century old, because they’ve managed to keep a sense of inventiveness in how they present themselves, and in their watches, that makes them seem perpetually fresh. None of this is an accident, of course – in fact, a big part of the reason that NOMOS has as much goodwill from the watch community as it has, stems from its obsessive concentration on getting all the details just right. We’ve all seen innumerable watches from innumerable brands that almost work, but that have that one niggling detail that, like a puncture in a balloon, lets all the air out of a design. NOMOS, on the other hand, manages to get all the details right again, and again, and again, with almost eerie consistency – and with an equally eerily consistent design language, which could easily start to seem repetitive or monotonous, but d
INCOMING!!! I think....
...should know for sure tomorrow night when I can see the targets and figure out the big question: dark or light?
