Shinola Launches "Great Americans Series" With Wright Brothers Limited Edition Watch & Bicycle
Shinola has just announced (today) a new type of watch collection it calls the "Great American Series." The first model is The Wright Brothers Limited Edition, and more on that in a moment. The purpose of the Great American Series is to celebrate American inventors, innovators, and all-around important folks. It is a brilliant marketing concept and makes total sense coming from a brand that somehow was able to make it cool to have watches produced in Detroit based on the name of an old brand of shoe polish. In addition to two different versions of The Wright Brothers Limited Edition watch there will be a limited edition bicycle. Why a bicycle? Well, given the fact that I did multiple book reports on the Wright bothers in elementary school I know why. Orville and Wilbur Wright had a bicycle store in their home town of Dayton Ohio. They later went on to play around with the world's first flying airplane, but they still really liked bikes. Going rate for a 2254 Seamaster
Just curios as to what this discontinued model is going for these days---it is my understanding that they are in relatively high demand.Assuming you have a very good and lightly used 2254, what can one expect to pay---with full documentation of course?
Do you polish your Patek at Service?
First of all, I would like to thank everyone that responded to me in regards to scratches on my 5712. As few days went by I'm definitely ok with it and understand that it's part of owning and wearing the timepiece. My next question, and that down the road, do you believe in polishing your watches. Some people say that they would not polish collectible timepieces but say ok to do on the current ones. Thanks again and I appreciate everyone's hep!

16223 or 116223 Need Help! Your thoughts PLEASE
I am considering the purchase of a pre-owned two tone Datejust, either a late 90's 16223 or an early 116223 with fluted bezel, jubilee bracelet and white stick dial, full set. I pretty well know the differences in the two watches. I would appreciate some of your thoughts on the two choices. Price is not a big difference. What about the polished lugs on the newer style, that is one concern.
