Vacheron Constantin Malte Moon Phase and Power Reserve
Vacheron Constantin announces a new model: the Malte Moon Phase and Power-Reserve. The barrel-shaped case measures a generous 39 x 49mm. The dial is adorned with five different finishes. The inner zone features a silvered, finely hand-guilloch Clous de Paris or hobnail motif. The outer zone is decorated with a vertical satin-brushed finish, also silvered. The minute circle, the power-reserve display as well as the inscriptions Vacheron Constantin Genve and Swiss Made are all transferred, while the seconds subdial at 6 o'clock is circular satin-brushed. And finally, the minute-circle and power-reserve zones are screen-printed in white. The moon-phase display is composed of a disc with a galvanized base and a moon face in 18k white gold or pink gold, depending on the model. The broad dial includes nine hour-markers, two Roman numerals and a Maltese cross, all in 18k white or pink gold, depending on the version. Power is provided by a manual-winding 1410 manufacture caliber bearing th
My First Grail Watch: Giles Ellis Of Schofield Watches
Welcome back to an original watches-dealer feature, "My First Grail Watch". In this series, we ask prominent people in the watch industry about the first timepiece that they lusted after. In today's entry, we're talking to the owner of Schofield Watch Company, Giles Ellis. In his reminiscing, he goes back, literally, to his beginnings of watch interest. His piece really goes to show that your first grail doesn't have to be something in the far reaches of haute horology - it just has to be something that you love.watches-dealer (ABTW): Who are you and what is your relationship to the watch industry?Giles Ellis (GE): Giles Ellis, owner of Schofield Watch Company. Hublot Congratulates Miami Heat For NBA Championship By Giving The Entire Organization White Hot Big Bangs
The Miami Heat won the NBA Championship last week - quickly silencing all the critics of LeBron James' decision to take his talents to South Beach.? It was LeBron's first championship, and the second title for the Heat since 2006.? To celebrate this, team sponsor Hublot decided to give the entire organization watches.? But not just any watches - big, white watches.? Called the White Hot Big Bang, these Hublots are engraved on the back with the Heat logo and date of the championship.? They were presented to not only players, but the coaching staff of the team.??Conspicuously absent from the festivities was, well, the man everyone really wanted to see, series MVP LeBron James.? James is, of course, an ambassador for chief Hublot competitor Audemars Piguet (read an interview with James conducted by Ben Clymer about his collaboration witih AP here).?No official word on how many watches in total were given out, but the official retail price of this model is $14,800.? Curious why the White H

Cellini Pricing - what's fair?
Happy New Year, everyone! So, I'm particularly fond of the rose gold, black lacquer Cellini - ref 50505 - but of course cannot stomach paying MSRP for it, which is around 15,000 USD. I've looked and looked and what I find online is somewhat bizarre. Essentially, everyone offering the piece for sale, be it gray market or pre-owned, wants something in the 9000-12000 USD range, but almost all the watch pricing aggregator sites swear that it's value is closer to 4000-8000 tops (NIB). I am having a hell of a time trying to figure out what's fair to offer to sellers...thoughts on this one?
