Angular Momentum Il Moretto Watch: Historical Talisman Timepiece
This is a pretty incredible new timepiece from Angular Momentum. The figurine is actually part of the watch, and is situated on one of Angular Momentum's new Time Gallery watch cases. Even if you have no idea what Il Moretto (aka "moretto Veneziano"), or a Morcic figure is, this is a pretty significant departure from your typical luxury watch. Let's go back in time for a moment a few hundred years to Italy and Croatia to understand the development of this symbol. A Morcic is a bust figure of a Moor. The figures always have Caucasian features with dark skin, and are luxuriously dressed while wearing a turban headdress. The idea of the figure was to be exotic, and was typically used a good luck charm. Sailors began to have Il Moretto figurines as earrings or pendants as a ward against pirates (mostly Turkish) , who often plagued sailors who sailed along the African coast and in the Mediterranean sea. While the figure's face does not have a specific analog, it obviously has influence fro
Was about to get a blue yel g/ steel sub then fell in love with this...
Hi all,Been thinking about a Sub yellow gold and steel for a while. Although i already had this rolex:so tried on the subwhich i liked alotbut then my eye went to another watch i have been looking into for a while.i tried it on and i fell for it!only has to be set once every 4 years and a moonphase:(on sites)what you all think?
Your Opinion wanted
I just picked this up, liked the look of it.Great quality watch, sapphire crystal, solid links, screw pins, and a swiss quartz movement, ceramic bezel.I do not care for Homage watches. Nothing wrong with them as long as they don't pretend to be the real thing, but not for me. When I bought this, I knew it had the ploprof hands, but did not consider it a homage watch. GP uses these hand combo and I think Oris might as well.I thought it looked different than the ploprof as it did not have the special extra wide protruding case of the ploprof 600 and no mesh bracelet. But now after getting it want to see what the Omega folks think, thus wanting your opinion.Do you think this watch is trying to look like an Omega? Or does it just have similar styling?Either way I'll enjoy it for sure. But interested in your thoughts.
Omega Service Center
Hello guys, new to the forum...Where is the best Omega Service Center aside from the one in NJ?I had my speedmaster serviced there but man...it took 8 weeks to fix a tiny screw in the bracelet...after a year and a half, that tiny screw came off again and i do not know where to find one to fix it myself aside form getting it from the service centers....any ideas?BTW it is a Speedmaster date with an 18mm stainless steel bracelet. I replaced the screw temporarily with a hard plastic insert as you can see in the pics to fix it.
Hand finishing
Same question I had on Watchtech but no replies yet , you may wiil.Is it possible to identify the hand finishing vs machine made polish on watchcases ?basically the final polishing done by hand at all manufacturers or just in the high end segment?May you can tell what to look for to judge properly ,in my book hand finishig allows tiny misperfections however most high end pieces i ve handled seems to be perfect except under 10x magnification i ve seen small how to call misalignment i wouldn t call those a flaws rather the human touch, but it was mostly on the case ,on the movement even under high magnification for me hard to find the difference.Cld you pls comment, thanks
