Bring a Loupe: A Rolex With Tiffany Dial, A B-Series Royal Oak With Original Papers, An Early Zenith
You probably noticed that the HODINKEE Shop started offering vintage watches last Tuesday. What does this mean for this column? Well, nothing really. Bring A Loupe is still alive and kicking; each week, you can expect to find the coolest watches from all over the world. And this week, BAL will include a dressy Rolex with Tiffany dial, a B series Royal Oak, and a Bovet Mono-Rattrapante. There is also a great selection of chronographs, from a tropical Wakmann to an early Zenith El Primero. This is your Bring A Loupe for March 11, 2016. An Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Reference 5402 B Series With Original Papers 1 OF 7 Launching the Royal Oak was definitely a bold move from AP in 1972, as this sporty looking watch in stainless steel cost more than a dressy Patek in gold at the time. Request for wrist shots of mid-sized RO
Am looking at mid-sized models as I dislike large watches. Does anyone here own a 15450 or 14790 that they could post wrist shots of?
Speedmaster 9300
Received the new 9300 Speedmaster. It does not sit as high on the wrist as some commentators opined. It is actually very comfortable on the stainless steel. Be careful when taking the screws out to size the bracelet as they are very small, and both sides have to be taken out to remove the sleeve. Very legible dial, and supposedly water resistant down to 330 feet for whomever was asking the question about swimming in their Speedy, although the owner's manual suggests rinsing it off if you have been in Seawater, and not using the chrono buttons under water. My first day, so too soon to tell, particularly for a Rolex guy, but this one seems like a terrific watch right out of the box.
Panerai Watch
Anyone have any info on this watch ? I'm dealing with a very nice lady in Texas with Panerai and she is very impressed with the watch and trying very hard to get me information. Any experts know the model ?
