Sowind Group Chairman Luigi Macaluso Passes Away
Sowind Group (Girard-Perregaux and JEANRICHARD) has issued a statement announcing that its Chairman, Luigi Macaluso, has unexpectedly passed away at age 62 after suffering a heart attack. Luigi, known as Gino by those closest to him, was born in Turin, Italy, in 1948. He was married to Monica and the father of four children, Stefano, Massimo, Anna and Margherita. More than 10 years ago, his two sons joined him at the head of Sowind Group. An architect, former motor racing driver and visionary entrepreneur, he had been behind the wheel of Girard-Perregaux since 1992. A firm believer in the value of an authentic Haute Horlogerie Manufacture, he pioneered the development of an integrated production strategy. A charismatic leader, he was able to make Sowind Group an essential player in Swiss Haute Horlogerie.Stefano and Massimo Macaluso will strive to perpetuate his vision for this company of which he was so fond, and to continue the many projects that he had initiated with passion.
Introducing The Breitling Chronoliner, A Modern Aviator With Vintage Nuances
Breitling has?been rekindling vintage-inspired pieces for a while now. Last month, we showed you the in-house Transocean 1915 Mono-pusher Chrono, and before that a 38 mm Transocean Chrono. But, let's not forget that Breitling's legacy as a tool watch applies as much in the air as it does on the sea. Its latest release, the Breitling Chronoliner, is an aviation themed watch that evokes images of that?bygone era. When Breitling says that it drew inspiration from vintage pieces?in designing this aviator, it's only natural that we focus on our favorites. If we put on our?vintage?goggles, we don't have to look too hard to notice piston pushers and a?black bezel on a?panda dial C and that means a Breitling Co-Pilot as far as vintage aviators are concerned. We covered one here?not too long ago. Granted, the registers are at 6, 9, and 12 instead of 3, 6, and 9 and the bezel is of the?24-hour variety?instead of 12, but maybe the Chronoliner's looks are inspired by a medley of older models. Servicing Advice On Vintage Omega Constellation
Hi All, My first post on this forum - looking forward to gleaning and sharing as much info with everyone :)I have just recently started to enjoy the intricacies of watchmaking and am becoming an avid student of watches.I recently acquired a vintage Omega Constellation (1972 i am told but will get more details soon when i take it in for service).Just wondering if anyone can give advice on where i should take this to get serviced in the Sydney Australia region.I have been told that Omega actually do not service their watches in house anymore and just send it off to other experienced servicing centres in town. If this is the case, I am considering taking it directly to one of these service centres to cull the costs. Any thoughts or advice? Also, i will be taking photos of this watch soon to post up for all to enjoy :)I also inherited an old Cyma which i will post details of soonThanks in advance guys and girls
Looking for advice on the best way to buy used
I've been lurking around this forum for years lusting over the various watches in Rolex's line. After many years, I've finally settled in on the one watch I want, the 39mm Explorer I.Specifically, I want the current version that was updated in 2016. Looking at Rolex's site, the current MSRP is $6,550. I know there is room to negotiate with AD's. I understand your mileage may vary here depending on the AD and the model in question (for example, no one is giving any discounts on Subs). That said, I've seen many example of discounts in the 10-12% range. I don't think the Explorer I is a hot watch, so I don't think it would be outside the realm of possibility to get a 10% discount from an AD, which would put the cost at $5,895.I've got two questions specific to trying to purchase this watch used:1) I know there are many trusted sellers here on this forum. That said, I don't typically see many used Explorer I's posted, especially those that are the newest version. Can you proactivel
Rolex 116610LV prices coming down in new year , future collectible???
Hi all,I was in Mexico just got back and I went to multiple AD's no one had a greenSub ceramic at all? My question to you all is this a future collectible, will prices come down? Is Rolex going to stop production on this model or is it all hype and another ceramic Daytona situation? Does the serial number affect the price of this model or doesn't that really matter?CHEERS ALL HAppy NEW YEAR! Feliz Nuevo anos!
