A Week On The Wrist: The Omega Speedmaster 'First Omega In Space'
This week on my wrist is the Omega Speedmaster “First Omega In Space,” a watch inspired by a historically important model worn in space on October 3, 1962, by U.S. astronaut Walter Schirra – an event to which the new model owes its name. We raved about the FOIS when it was introduced in 2012. An affordable manually wound chronograph with great history, it seemed to hit a chord with both the nostalgic, and those new to the brand. It certainly looks the part, but how does it feel on the wrist? 1 OF 15 The story goes that Walter Schirra decided to go watch shopping in Houston, Texas, a few months before the Mercury-Atlas 8 mission, knowing he would become the fifth man to travel to space. Perhaps he wanted to mark the momentous occasion. That part remains legend, though, as a second-generation aviator and military pilot, Schirra would most probably have heard of OMEGA and its relatively new racing chronograph. The Speedmaster, with its black dial inspired b

Houston "the Omega has landed"!! 45th Anniversary SpeedMaster Pro
Well it's finally here. I placed an order for this a while ago and yesterday I got the call.It is a stunning watch (my pictures do not do it justice) the colours are beautiful. It is very light on the wrist (as you would expect being largely Titanium)The dial lettering and minute markers stand out from the dial and in certain lights, glisten. A result of the laser cutting process. The box is huge, very heavy. Matt black with a slight rubberised feel to the touch. The pink gold plated hinges are a nice detail as is the lunar backdrop inside the lid which is really cool. The certificate is a nice touch with silver leaf edging. The only thing which (for me) detracts from the watch is the strap. Its far too long for a normal wrist and has to be doubled back on itself. It causes the strap to look odd sticking out to one side of the wrist. As nice as it is this watch cries out for a leather strap or better a Titanium bracelet.Enjoy the pictures
Question Regarding New Speedmaster - "Swiss Made" Designation
Hi all,I just got a last man on the moon speedmaster from Fr.John's AD in Washington. As you can hopefully see from the picture, the swiss made lettering on the bottom of the dial is cut off, almost like the dial is note quite centered. Obviously its not a big deal, but I was wondering if anyone has ever seen this before. I would hope that I wouldn't have to worry about authenticity, but it seems a little below Omega's normal quality control.

Sometime in the future, I'm looking to buy a Day Date, but I am already torn between the new style Day Date II with the 41mm case and the original Day Date 36mm.I have a relatively slender wrist of 7 inches, but the new 41mm models fit me surprisingly well. I tried some on today at my AD. I thought that the 41mm DJ and DD would be too big for me, so I thought I would just automatically go with the classic 36mm models... but this was not the case.1. So now I ask, which of the two do YOU prefer?2. Also, please post pics of your Day Dates, as I am also trying to decide between Yellow and White gold and a bright or dark face combination
