Steinhart Ocean One Titanium Premium 500 Review
Steinhart is a familiar name to those of us who have been interested in affordable watches over the last several years. When we were first getting into this world, their watches offered a lot of bang for the buck, and looked good too, as they were largely homage watches or recreations of classic styles, like fliegers and marines. Steinhart also manages to do something few other brands are able to, and seemingly with no great explanation as to how, which is offer Swiss made automatic movements in watches that often cost under $500. What they lacked in originality, they seemingly made up for in style and low prices. With that said, it's been a few years since we last reviewed a Steinhart watch. To this day, our review of the Ocean Vintage Military (OVM) remains one of our most read articles and watched videos. The Rolex Mil-Sub homage watch just oozed style, and while controversial, as any homage watch is, was just too much fun to ignore. Plus, the watch it was based on is so rare and goe
15400 vs Rolex on the Wrist
It's been said that Royal Oaks tend to wear large for their reported size. Someone asked for a comparison shot between a 15400 and a Sub C on the wrist, and I took some quick pics. I might as well also post here in case someone else is interested. It's not as bad as it seems, especially considering the maxi cases on the Rolex. I hope this helps someone who may be deciding on a purchase.Interestingly, I think the BNLR wears a big larger than the Sub C because of the larger text on the bezel, and of course, the color. For reference, my wrists is 6.75in.
New (to me) Seamaster 2221.80
A few weeks ago I bought the original Bond quartz Seamaster 2541.80 off Craigslist at a good price. It is an older model with tritium dial and hands.I loved the size, feel etc and kept researching more. I came across the 2221.80 and knew I had to have it. I loved the red lettering, longer hands and applied markers and Omega logo. The prevailing price seemed to be around $1300-$1500. Got lucky and found a Craigslist seller that had one mint with upgraded gift box, book, links etc.I met last night and the watch was as pictured by the seller. The seller also had the Omega rubber strap # 98000085 with attached buckle in unused condition ( which ofrei sells for over $300). He threw it in with the deal....$1250 out the door. The luminosity on this 2221.80 is insane. Woke up at 6:30 am and it was still glowing brighter then my Rolex Yachtmaster.Thrilled with this watch, and the rubber strap was an unknown bonus...I was meeting him with the $1250 price agreed on and I got the Omega stra
If you have a PO (non-chrono) Big Size with serial numbers between 817092XX and 81734
If you have a PO (non-chrono) Big Size with a serial number between 817092XX and 817341XX. Please post here your s/n and if it has an anti-counterfeit stamp on the case cover.I am trying to get to the point in serial numbers where the PO (non-chrono) Big Size began having the stamp...thanks!817092XX stamp = NO817341XX stamp = YESThis may have no relevance for anything, as Omega may not systematically install the case backs in particular order with a given case (ie their case back stock may have backs with and without the stamp intermixed), but what the heck...we'll see what happens as replies come in.
Help needed in the UK 5167R-001
Hi Guys I'm new to the Patek side of these forums but have been on the Rolex side for a few years , I own several Rolex but now I've taken an interest in the 5167R-001 Rubber strap model. My local AD had told me that he can get me one within a month but other than liking the look of this watch I have no idea about it.The AD told me that there is usually a years waiting list for this watch but after dealing with Rolex Ads for many years I'm not sure I'd believe him.He also said the steel version had a 3 year waiting list but again I'm not really clued up enough to know if it's part of the sales pitch or not.So what I'd like to know is ..,Should I be looking at asking for a discount ? Is the waiting list really that long for the gold version and are the steel versions even that much longer ?Regards Jim
