Watch Choice For Survival: Top Pick For Deserted Island Scenario?
If you are anything like me, you have seriously considered what you would do in a survival situation on a deserted island. Do I ever anticipate being in this situation? Well no, but as a dedicated lover of the survivalist genre (from Robinson Crusoe to Castaway), I do take the time to ponder such issues. Likely or not, it makes for good conversation, and an interesting tactical decision, thinking about what watch would be perfect. Let's see what some of the considerations you need to take when choosing your island adventure watch. You'll need a rugged, long lasting watch, with functions that will be helpful during everyday endeavors.Under the most dire of scenarios, you are going to be stuck on this island for a long time, perhaps even forever. You can never anticipate what is going to happen to your watch, but you want something that can take just about anything, keep running, and provide you with as much flexibility as possible. AP RO 41mm
completely new to the AP world. but, i was browsing a store by me last night and this watch really caught my eye. the sales guy told me that because it had a screw down crown it was probably rated at 100m for water resistance. i did some research and it is only 50m. every time i check i hear that 50m is not OK for serious swimming. and while i am not a pro swimmer by any means, i like to wear a watch that i can do anything in. and you never know when i will jump into any body of water. i suppose what i am asking all of you guys is is this an everyday watch? can it take the beating that a Rolex can. it surely feels like it can, but i want to do my due diligence before making a mistake. what say you guys?
Need some help please
Hi everyone.I saw the Dark Side at an AD and fell in love! I can't get it out of my mind. However the only hi end watches that I own are Rolex and Panerai. I'm having a hard time justifying how expensive it is. I can get the Dark Side for quite a bit off retail but it's still up there. My question is how do Omega hold their value? In particular how to you think the Dark Side will hold value over time? I've never had this concern about a Rolex. I'm debating getting rid of my GMT C and I've already turned my Panerai. Thinking about three watches for my collection. Sub no date, SS Daytona, and the Dark side. Thanks!
Ways I have damaged a watch
In honor of my new TRF pal who just bought his very first Rolex, I though it would be good for us to collectively warn him about the worldly dangers that lurk for our watches. I shall begin:Gasoline/Petrol/SolventsWhile filling my car with fuel, the petrol splashed back onto the watch and melted the water seals. Not a cheap fix. Now I ALWAYS have my watch arm behind my back when at the pumps.
