Raymond Weil Nabucco Va, Pensiero Watch
The major men's watch release from Raymond Weil this year was a new Nabucco (the name sounds too much like Nabisco to me and I think of snacks) Va, Pensiero. The odd, "comma containing" name comes apparently from a famous Verdi chorus. Does this watch remind you of anything Verdi or Opera related? Cause it doesn't for me. Get this, Raymond Weil actually writes this in their press information, the Nabucco Va, Pensiero "exudes the same power and nobility as the great Italian composer's Opera." Wow, I've only seen greater BS while staring at a cow's ass.I hope someone who writes for Raymond Weil got a bonus for that gem of a quote. There is nothing wrong with the sand-blasted titanium watch, but lets not get all operatic here. This is no watch to sing about. Though you could buy one and play some Verdi music during a video recorded "un-boxing" session. That would be dramatic enough. The gray tones all over the watch add to the titanium feel, as well as function as Raymond Weil's hat thrown
ROO 42 vs. 44
26470OR vs. 26401ROJust wanted to ask this question and see what everyone's feedback would be. I'm making my next purchase today but not firm on which to get. I wear the 42mm Themes everyday as my beater watch. I was planning to get the 44 but wasn't feeling it. What do yah think? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Quintessential Calatrava-style AP from a different era...
Having recently received this recent acquisition back from independent servicing, I couldn't be more pleased. As the title of the post suggests, this model, to my mind and eye, embodies all of the classic design elements of the Calatrava line of watches made famous by Patek Philippe (and first introduced in 1932). Housed in a simple, yet elegant 35mm case, is arguably the finest hand-wind movement ever produced by AP: the Valjoux-based VZSSc (the sub-second version was VZSS). Cheers, Tony C.
Robert Downey Jr. likes his Omega
.cnet/news/robert-down...-watch-is-meh/Came across this on Cnet. Didn't think there would be mention of any other watches, but apparently he likes his Omega. There is a video of the interview. He doesn't show which model he is wearing, but it was interesting to see someone who wears a traditional mechanical watch chime in on the Apple watch.
Rolex at the Masters
Just wondering if anyone else noticed all the commentators / past Masters champions wearing Rolex watches. I noticed quite a few Submariners and Datejusts being flashed on TV by the commentators. Since Rolex is sponsoring the streaming programming I'm wondering if they gave Rolex watches to the TV announcer's for passive advertisement. I didn't notice anyone wearing Daytona's.
