A Look At The Real Military Watches On This Memorial Day
Today we are meant to remember those who fought and fell for America. In doing so, it is hard for me not to think about the endless stream of "military inspired" watches that we see advertised so much. The oodles of pilot watches, special forces watches, officer watches, the list just goes on really. Some of the most popular watches stem from this lineage, and yet I wonder who ever actually wore the watches that many of today's timepieces are based on.It is true that various elite special fighting units are given watches, or at least they have the option of purchasing them. This represents a very small number of soldiers, and I have no idea whether they actually wear the watches, are given the watches, or if it is just a cute marketing strategy. For those individuals, we should consider them lucky, but the trade off is that they are placed in a pretty high degree of danger.Brands like Luminox claim that special forces units wear their watches, but I am unsure of this accuracy. Variations on 5167 Tiffany stamp location
I recently noticed that the Tiffany-stamped 5167s I see online have their stamp in one of two places:1. Vertically centered in the second cell above the 6.media.tiffany/is/image/Ti..._940185_ED.jpg2. Top-aligned in the first cell above the 6.You can see both variations if you Google image search or search tiffanydial on Instagram:https://.instagram/explore/tags/tiffanydial/Has anyone else noticed this? Any more info/insight?
The strap game has begun....
when i came to the dark side, i was aware that buying straps maybe a bad habit. i told myself i should not buy extra strap at one point. but on the same day i made the purchase of my first pam, i've already ordered the rubber strap and deploy buckle. and then after 2 weeks, my itch made me uncontrollably browsing through all strap vendors for a few days straight. ended up i made the first handmade strap order from Drew, Europelli. after a month of waiting, my strap finally delivered yesterday. Amazing is all i can say.it is the Antique Maduro Calfskin from 1966. compare to the oem rubber and the stainless band came with the watch, this vintage strap really brings out a whole new character of the watch. love it! i guess this is going to be my new hobby now.sorry about the big size picture, too lazy to resize them :p
