Watch Winner Review: Frederique Constant Peking To Paris Chronograph
Thanks to David B. who was the winner of a Frederique Constant?watch back in the December 2012 holiday giveaway. For his winning watch he chose a Peking To Paris Chronograph. After living with it for a little while he had the following watch review report to make for his fellow readers:Next month, on May 28th, the fifth Peking to Paris Motor Challenge event will take place. This year, 96 vintage cars will attempt to travel 7610 miles across China, Russia, Eastern Europe, and Switzerland, finally finishing in Paris. The first Peking to Paris occurred in 1907 and has taken place only sporadically since then. This edition is anticipated to take 33 days covering rugged, rural roads of Asia and Europe. In the most recent events, Frederique Constant watches has been the official timekeeper, and in the spirit of the event has released a series of watches called the Vintage Rally. As one of the very excited and happy winners of the December 2012 watches-dealer giveaway, I chose one of these vint
Coming back to AP...
I am so excited to say that I am coming back to AP! I sold my AP ROO Panda 6 months ago and regretted it ever since. Now I have the AP ROO Safari incoming tomorrow to partner up with my Rolex RG Skydweller...WOOOHOOO!!!
Can this watch be saved?
I'll try to make this short, but it does require some backstory. My grandfather was a great guy, and loved a good bet. In 1960, he took a bet with a friend, for, you guessed it--the outcome of the Presidential election. The loser would have to buy the winner this Omega Seamaster, which they had both seen in the window of a local jeweler. Upon Kennedy's election, my grandfather received the watch and wore it in good health for many years. After he passed away, it was handed down to my father, who also wore it regularly. Unfortunately, the caseback began having problems--the gold was literally wearing away. Over the years he took it several times to a jeweler, who told him it had to do with the pH of his skin (no idea if this is true), and he (the jeweler) would fill the caseback with new gold on occasion. When my father passed away in the early 2000's, the watch came to me. I didn't do anything with it for a while (the caseback literally has a hole worn in it) but eventually took it to a r
New PO 45.5 8500. Impulse Buy
I have been anti Omega for the last few years. I just did not think that the cost was equal to the quality. And, I love the speedy, but think the 42mm looks too small. Which is interesting....because I love my Sub C LN.I always loved the PO (had one in the past), but felt that 42 also looked too small and the 45.5 was way too big. Anyway, I was shopping around and stopped in to look at watches. The sales guy knows I am a watch guy and goes into the back room and pulled out the new 8500 with the black rubber strap and orange trim. I absolutely fell in love.It is extremely comfortable, looks great and I think the deployment clasp is awesome. The rubber looks like it could be rubber or leather, which I think is a neat trick. They gave me 10% and I left the store with it.I think my one concern is that I think the the size may end up bothering me. Feedback from my girl and some friends has been super and they usually yawn when I get a new watch. I wanted to post a few pics to see
