Christie’s Auction Features Thomas Jefferson’s Watch Key
Christie’s Americana Week sale takes place January 21-25 at Rockefeller Plaza in New York. The sale includes a unique watch key owned by Thomas Jefferson. The key contains a lock of his wife’s hair and is inscribed “Martha W. Jefferson Born 19 Oct. 1748, Died 6 Sept. 1782.” Jefferson, who never remarried, pledged to always remember his wife. It is believed that Jefferson commissioned this watch key as a means of fulfilling that promise. Jefferson is known to have had a penchant for watches. Christie’s cites Silvio A. Bedini, “Thomas Jefferson, Clock Designer,” Proceedings of the American Philosophical Society, who wrote “Probably more than any other of the notable American statesmen, Jefferson had a special interest in timepieces.” Christie’s also notes that Jefferson intended for each of his grandchildren to inherit a gold watch, indicating that he considered these personal timepieces ideal for remembering loved ones. One of the new Richard Mille watches to be debuted in January for 2012 is this RM 037 timepiece. While not the flagship new product, it is a nice watch that represents another nice and super pricey daily wear. The design evolution is quite interesting. Taken from previous Richard Mille watches are the hour markers and hands. The case is new, being a sort of hybrid between the thin-cased rectangular case models and those with Richard Mille's signature barrel-shaped case design.Like most Richard Mille watches this one will come in titanium, red gold, or white gold. Richard Mille likes to mostly show their watches in industrial looking titanium to present themselves in the most "functional" light possible. But the reality of course is that their pieces are high-end items with customers who like their products in gold. Just curious. How come the watch registration on the AP site asks for a 10 digit warranty number and the warranty number in my warranty book is 16 digits long? Anybody know?

Opinions on Breitling Chrono SuperOcean
Tried two on today. The blue dial with white subdials and the silver dial with blue subdials. Very substantial watch at 42mm and heavy as hell. The silver dial really smiled at me. 4165 msrp, first offer 3500 from AD. I think I can do better but the recent price increase was pretty substantial, old MSRP was 3540. Anyone out there have experience with the chrono? Thanks,

Can anyone point me to a good watch buyer?
I have been unable to sell my 18k/SS Constellation 1212:30:00 for a decent price. All of the web buyers offer less than a third of MSRP. If anyone knows of a good source please PM me. Thanx.
