Watches NEWS
Madison Avenue Watch Week 2013
Watch lovers in New York City will once again have a chance to enjoy Watch Week on Madison Avenue this year. From April 8th until the 13th, a selection of watch retailers and brand boutiques on Madison Avenue between 57th and 86th Street will hold special events to reward collectors for their dedication and to showcase their 2013 watches. I was there for Watch Week last year in 2012 and enjoyed what the event was able to put together. The key to being invited or learning about the watch events is to sign up for the Madison Avenue Watch Week newsletter on this page here. Some of the key participating brands and locations on Madison Avenue are:AntiquorumHublotFP JourneVacheron ConstantinBreguetPorsche DesignGirard-Perregauxand more
Basel 2016 speedmaster blue panda dial
Sorry for the crappy pics, I saw on april's issue of GQ France that a speedmaster 39mm blue panda dial is coming
Speedmaster Mark II chronograph function
I had a chance to play with this watch at a local AD and Omega boutique and noticed that when I start the chronograph, sometimes the seconds hand will not start smoothly from a stop, but rather jump a second and then move. It didn't seem to matter if I pressed the start/stop button fast or slow, though pressing it slowly seemed to make it happen more often. This happened on three separate watches.I'm a little hesitant to pay 5-6k for a watch that appears to have a defect in the mechanism. I tried this on a Breitling and I could not replicate the issue.Any Mark II owners that can chime in please?Thank you
Surprise encounter
I entered a nearby state prison last Thursday for four days of ministry. We are encouraged to not wear expensive jewelry so I usually wear my Citizen beater during such events. But I've been wearing the 300 M for a month so Saturday morning before leaving the house, I strapped on the 300 M. My thinking was that on the Bond strap it would fly under the radar. All was going well when during a break one of the residents (inmates) asked to see my watch. Turns out he was a WIS serving a 40 year sentence. He told me about his collection, primarily Omega and Rolex with a couple of Seikos. The Omegas included a PO and a Speedy Pro of course. All had to be left on the outside.Without access to computers and watch magazines, he was hungry for information and news so he hammered me with questions. No one else noticed my 300 M.
Three of the best....
....recently become an Omega owner after a few years (25!) with only Rolex and Tudor.......happy so far....sorry for the poor quality snap
