New Casio Sports Watch is Compatible With iPhone Fitness Apps
Casio, which launched its first Casio G-Shock watch with Bluetooth technology in 2011, introduced the latest generation in its series of smartphone-compatible watches at last week’s 2014 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The Casio STB-1000 uses Bluetooth v4.0, with low-energy wireless technology, to enable wearers to check personal fitness data from popular mobile apps, operate a music player on a smartphone, and more. With the new STB-1000, Casio extends its iPhone compatibility, enabled through Bluetooth v4.0, to the sports-watch category. It is compatible with four iPhone fitness apps: Abvio's Runmeter, Walkmeter, and Cyclemeter (abvio), as well as Wahoo Fitness (wahoofitness), all of which are downloadable from the Apple App Store. The Casio STB-1000 can be used to check personal fitness data such as running pace and distance, elapsed time, pulse, cycling speed, and pedal rotations. In addition, it offers all of the essential functions of a modern-day Casio watch, includ
Kobold Launches Program to Train Sherpas as Watchmakers
Kobold has announced a program in which its U.S.-based watchmakers will train a group of Sherpas in the art of watchmaking. The former high-altitude mountain guides from Nepal's Himalaya region will begin learning how to assemble mechanical wristwatches in March. The one-year-long program also includes a basic course on managing a luxury business. After successfully completing the program at Kobold's Pittsburgh facilities, the Nepalese citizens will return to their native Mount Everest region to assemble Kobold watches destined for the company's Kathmandu retail store, which is expected to open in August of this year.Kobold expects to train two to three Nepalese citizens every year. By training relatively unskilled Nepalese workers how to make high-end watches, we provide them with a vastly increased level of competitiveness not only in their native country but around the world, explains Michael Kobold, the company's 31-year-old founder. Nepal is one of the world's poorest countries,
Marvin Loeb Rally Collection Watches
Marvin watches has released two new versions of their Sebastian Loeb collaboration watches with these two new pieces, one being a limited edition. Not just mere color changes, these have different, more refined dials and a great sporty look. These are the best looking Marvin Loeb Rally Collection watches yet in my opinion. I wrote about the original Marvin Loeb collection here.Using the top-level models with the Swiss ETA Valjoux 7750 automatic movements, these are offered as two sets of watches with either a red trim or yellow trip. The red trimmed model will be a limited edition of just 88 pieces. As is the case with all Marvin watches, the 8 o'clock out indicator is specially indicated. Loeb's signature is applied on the dial under the day/date window for those who need some rally driver reassurances on a regular basis. The watches each come in 44mm wide PVD black steel cases. The Loeb case shape remains the same with its neat chronograph pushers and spring mounted moving lug structu
Is it worth buying OEM Patek Strap or trying other strap makers ?
I would like to replace the strap on my 5146R It has a deployment clasp. I think Camille Fournet is a good alternative? I am in Manhattan and see they have a shop at :Address: 509 Madison Ave # 510, New York, NY 10022Does anyone have experience with them? can i trust them to remove the pins and deployment in my Patek or should I buy a strap and take it to an AD? Also what color choices do you guys like with your rose gold pateks?
Blue ceramic bezel: BLNR vs BLRO
A lot of people have commented on the purplish colour of the BLRO bezel but I've never heard this re: BLNR. Do they use the same Blue? People say with a ceramic bezel it's hard to get the blue right, but why wasn't this an issue with the BLNR?
