At Baselworld last week Corum unveiled the Admiral's Cup Legend 42. The twelve-sided bezel and nautical pennants have defined Admiral’s Cup family for decades. For 2011, the collection expands with the addition of a classically elegant example. The case has been redesigned with more strongly curved and rounded lugs, resulting in softer angles, while the sapphire caseback allows a view of the caliber CO395 movement inside. MB&F And Alain Silberstein HM2.2 "Black Box" Watch
Sometimes I wait a bit after news "breaks" to discuss a topic. That was the case with MB&F's new HM (horological machine) 2.2 watch. The timepiece is a further extension of the quite pricey luxury HM2 watch. MB&F has given the watch several version done in combos of metals (gold, titanium...), ceramic, and of course colors and styles. I've worn a few of them, and admit they are sorta cool. One of the biggest criticisms of that watch is that it was unwearable. True, the the wide box is tough to wear on your wrist, but it isn't exactly "unwearable" (like the DeWitt WX-1). From a practical standpoint MB&F watches are wearable art. Few people would actually wear and HM1, HM2, or HM3 watch all the time, but I for one quite appreciate them. Max Busser of the brand is a marketing master as well. Omega Speedmaster Solar Impulse HB-SIA Watch
This is a watch that I could really see myself wanting - even though it has a carbon fiber dial that I tend to not always enjoy (though I did like it on my Tissot T-Touch Expert). Yes, this has been a month of many Omega watches, but they have had some interesting releases so they merit the attention. This is probably my favorite. I've often looked at the classic Omega Speedmaster Professional Moon Watch and thought, "yes it is cool, but I'd really like a modern version." Yes, it is true that my sentiment defeats the point of the "Moon Watch heritage," but I didn't really want to have a manually wound watch with a Hesalite (plastic) crystal to deal with. My collection might very well include a Moon Watch in the future, but it would be for historic kicks, not cause I'd want to wear it each day.
