A Dream Visit to AP in Le Brassus, Switzerland - Part 2
A Singapore flag was flying outside AP's HQ What a hospitality!!!Read Part 1 here:The programme for our first day in Le Brassus was an intensive one. The first stop was to visit the museum, the high complication workshop as well as the Atelier de Restauration, all housed in the original AP building in Le Brassus. As some parts of the museums and facilities were not allowed to be photographed, and there were simply too many fascinating stuff to the extend of overwhelming, I could only share what I managed/bothered/allowed to see and shoot. This photo essay is thus rather candid with my personal experience about the tour no heavy details of history and watch models which could be found in books and catalogues!Let's go to the museum! ;) ================================================== ==============Day 2 - AP Museum, High Complication Workshop & Atelier de RestaurationIt was a beautiful sunny day with perfect blue sky and nice summer greenery all around the valley. The Diver takes on a shark!
Okay, so it's a sleeping nurse shark (my wife is far more dangerous in her natural habitat), but even so, my son thought I was pretty cool for touching the damn thing. In case anyone's curious, it felt like sandpaper. And yes, the Diver handled the mission with nary a hitch. Regards,Adam
Wall Street Journal on trouble in Swiss watch industry
I thought yesterday's WSJ piece on the Swiss watch industry was fascinating. It's behind a paywall, but here are some excerpts (it's a long feature article in the Business & Finance section):GENEVAYou're 25 years old, bask-ing in the glow of your first big job pro-mo-tion and a hefty raise. Why not splurge on a big-ticket item?Your fa-ther might have bought a fancy Swiss watch. But the thought doesn't oc-cur to youfor most of your life, you've used your cell-phone to check the time. In-stead, you book a get-away to Costa Rica, which you doc-u-ment ex-ten-sively on In-sta-gram.Swiss watch-mak-ing ex-ec-u-tive Jean-Claude Biver wants to change that think-ing. From his perch at lux-ury con-glom-er-ate LVMH Mo?t Hen-nessy Louis Vuit-ton, the 68-year-old has seen younger gen-er-a-tions drift away from his cen-turies-old in-dus-try. He is on a mis-sion to get them in-ter-ested in watches, be-fore it's too late. It's the first time we have young peo-ple not buy-ing watches, says Mr. Bi
Happy Conclusion to the AD Hulk Polishing Massacre
Original Thread with pictures located here:https://.rolexforums/showthread.php?t=565582After receiving my watch from the AD after a light polish i knew i needed a professional restoration. After extensive research, and glowing recommendations, i chose Rikki of Time Care Inc in Seminole FL to fix the issue. And I am glad i did. I received the watch back today, and i am blown away by how it looks. The original look and feel have been restored. He kept me fully informed, even with pictures of the finished product. He will be my go to from now on. Now on for the real show... Pictures!Family Reunited Once Again
Advice needed 16610 LV
Hi everyone. This is my first post so go gentle on me.So watch collection goes. Black sub 2005 explorer 39mm, Kermit Sub, BR03, Tudor black bay(which I love) chpoard mille milglia titanium. Si on the rumours back in 2010 when there were rumours that the 16610LV was going to be taken out of manufacturing. I bought one, but I've never worn it. I've recently had a collector who has approached me asking if I'd sell it for 8.5k. I've heard that Rolex are since putting up process and I suppose the cash would help. However, I'm kind of attached to it even though it's never been on my wrist, I was thinking it would be an 18th birthday present for my 8 yr old son. So just out of curiosity I'm wondering what you guys think? Considering the condition etc, is it a good price or do I hang on to it?Thanks Anthony
