Hands-On: The Cartier Tourbillon Mystrieux Azur Pendant Watch (Live Pics, Full Specs, And Pricing)
"When the commissionaire had gone, Holmes took up the stone and held it against the light. It’s a bonny thing,' said he. 'Just see how it glints and sparkles. Of course it is a nucleus and focus of crime. Every good stone is. They are the devil’s pet baits. In the larger and older jewels every facet may stand for a bloody deed. This stone is not yet twenty years old. It was found in the banks of the Amoy River in southern China and is remarkable in having every characteristic of the carbuncle, save that it is blue in shade instead of ruby red. In spite of its youth, it has already a sinister history.'" – Sherlock Holmes: The Adventure Of The Blue Carbuncle 1 OF 9 This might seem a rather ominous way to start off a look at one of the most spectacular objects we saw at the Salon this year: the Cartier Tourbillon Mystrieux Azur, a gem-set pendant tourbillon watch, and a unique piece. But I mention it as a way of underscoring th
Manually winding a Speedmaster
I just bought a nice near mint 3570.50 speedmaster after a long hunt. I love the look and history of the watch and want a nice vintage example someday but this model is only 4 years old and is a faithful interpretation of the original so it will scratch that itch until I'm ready to dive into the deep end and spend the money for a nice vintage example. The only thing that bugs me about the watch is that winding it seems difficult because there is not much crown to grab onto what with the slight recess in the case. Has this bothered anyone else?
Rough Valuation
After viewing Jockes conversion in the rolex discussions, it got me thinking that I haven't worn this watch for nearly 20 years, I bought it used around 22 years ago and had it serviced about 12 months ago as it wasn't running properly ( not surprising really) the chap who serviced it said it was worth a few hundred pounds, I think I'm going to either sell it or part exchange it for more of a sports watch which I know I'll wear. Would appreciate an idea of valuation or even a model type or No.ThanksPhil
My watch box update
Not a while ago, I posted my watch box asking everyone's opinion for let going few Rolexes to add some more flavor to my watch box. This was my watch box:I was thinking to add a Lange or Patek dress watch in the box, anyway it has to be on the strip. Grand Lange 1, Lange 1 time zone, 5205R and 5130R were on the list. All these choices didn't really ring the bell, I need something casual but not too dressy. Thanks the RTF and everyone, I found a watch meets all the desires, a good condition pre-owned watch to avoid the first high depreciation, white face clean look, casual but not dressy, either to be Lange or Patek. After a smooth transaction with takuya, I got this 2nd generation Lange 1815 Chronograph Flyback. It was a long time wish to own a Lange since I first saw it back in 1999 or 2000.Now, this is how my watch box looks like, how do you feel?Does Daytona belong to this box?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
