Audemars Piguet Celebrates its 135th Anniversary and Launches a New Royal Oak Offshore
On October 5, Audemars Piguet Japan held the brand’s 135th anniversary and new product launch party in the Choice! restaurant on the third floor of Tokyo’s prestigious Ark Mori building. The event was attended by 500 guests including VIPs, celebrities and media. The evening included the launch of a new Royal Oak Offshore limited edition. Mr. Go Mugino, Chief Executive Officer of Audemars Piguet Japan, introduced the evening's first “special guests”: brand founders Jules-Louis Audemars and Edward-Auguste Piguet appeared in a hologram to greet attendees. Through the wonders of technology, they talked about the history of AP and the watch industry in general, and how things have changed since the time they first started. Sure we are all used to celebrities modeling watches, even attending watch public relations events. I even wrote about watch companies like Audemars Piguet making watches for US presidents, who then plug the brand (for charity).Well new ground has been broken, and I would pay good money to learn the buttering up process involved in getting George Clooney to adorn a watch maker's monocle (called a loupe) and lab coat for this photo shoot. People confusing my watch for a Hublot!!
Anyone else have this happen to them... I've been wearing my new 44mm rose gold Royal Oak Offshore out a lot. I get lots of compliments but people keep confusing it for a Hublot!!! It's so annoying because I hate Hublot and their copycat watches!
