Celebrating Connoisseurship With A. Lange & Sohne Watches
Back in early 2009 I visited A. Lange & Sohne's manufacture in Glashutte. It was actually the first watch manufacture I visited, and now almost three years later I have much to compare it to. It is actually a shame that I saw Lange's manufacture so early in my career because I did not properly know how to appreciate it at the time. Don't get me wrong, I was thoroughly impressed during my visit, but I would have been much more impressed had I seen other places first that don't necessarily deliver the same experience and level of product. Even on a larger scale, Lange is the type of brand you can only really appreciate after getting to know many other watches first. I think that by definition that makes it a connoisseur's brand. This idea gets me thinking about what it means to be a connoisseur and how watches fit into the overall world of connoisseurship. Here with A. Lange & Sohne in the Napa Valley testing and learning about wine and watchmaking is probably a good place to pond
How Do You Wear Your Watch? Esquire Magazine Offers Amusing Wearing Style Explanations
I do admit to scrutinizing the way people wear their watches. I don't always understand people that wear watches too loose. My immediate thought is, "don't they know they can get it sized?" Perhaps people like the loose bracelet feel. You don't often see people who wear watches fitted with a strap wearing them loose. But they they are also those people that wear their watches upside down, and a few other positions that this readable blurb from Esquire magazine depicts. One of the best parts of the article are the drawings by illustration artist Alan Witschonke. He is a masterful artist and does justice to the watch in illustration form. I would love to see more watch drawings by him.One things lacking from the article is mention of what is means to just wear a watch normally, with a properly fitted bracelet. No anecdote about that? No mention of meticulously and enjoyment of comfort. Come on Esquire, think of something witty to say to the vast majority of watch lovers who brandish watch

Royal Oak Winding Question
Hi everyone, I'm hoping to get some advice on my first AP, a 15400. I've had the watch for a few weeks now and although I wear it daily, it has stopped running on two occasions already. The manual states that when manually winding it the crown should be turned At least 30 times and the selfwinding movement should take it from there. I had wound it with exactly 30 full turns of the crown and then worn it normally except when I was at work so each day the watch sits still from eight to twelve hours before I get home and put it on again. This routine has always worked fine when my daily wearer was a Rolex but not with the AP. Most recently I returned home from work, put the watch on (still running, time correct) and wore it for a couple hours, then after falling asleep on the couch I found that it had stopped when I woke up. Kind of frustrating. Is it possible that I need to give the crown more revolutions when manually winding to get the full power reserve or did I just end up with a lem
26300 noisy rotor?
Is the rotor noisy on a 25860 or 26300?I believe it winds unidirectionally, you can hear it going one way, but you can really hear it going the other way. You can't feel it rotating that much, but I can hear it. Any comments would be greatly appreciated, would like to understand if it's normal or a sign of service needed.
