Zodiac Sea Dragon Review
All too often, when a great old, but defunct brand name falls into new hands, either nothing happens with it, or they take that once great name and sully it with a poor lineup and bad decisions. It's like a weird get-rich-quick scheme for watch brands. They think that by taking a once established name, they are guaranteed a successful new line… Well, design, branding, authenticity and a slew of other important things go into it, so most of those re-launched brands fizzle after not long. Thankfully, that’s not the case with Zodiac.Zodiac was once a great and innovative brand, pushing the boundaries of design and technology for years, making some great cult classics, like the Sea Wolf. Unfortunately, like many others, they didn't survive the quartz-crisis. In the mid 90's Fossil brand picked up the name and revived it, though never re-established it to what it once was. As we learned in Basel this year (check out that article for some more details) there are some new minds at

OK, the Omegas are growing on me...
It has always been a cherished brand for me, perhaps because my father and mother always wore Omegas (still do), but there were always some design aspects that kept me from buying. Until now, I think...So I visited the Omega Boutique on during lunch today. I already talked about my favorable impressions of the Speedmaster 9300 on a separate thread. I've always had a week spot for the Ploproof but quite never had the guts to pull the trigger, but then today I thought I'd give the Planet Ocean 8500 42mm another look. And I was very pleased, dare I say, smitten by it.I recently sold off my SubC, reason being that I have the old Sub and the DSSD, so I don't really need that bad boy as well, but moreover, I feel like the redesign has Rolex on the wrong track. The bezel in combination with the glossy dial just makes the darn thing too shiny and blingy!? The oversized lugs created a boxy designs that just doesn't speak to me. And there is no hiding from the fact that when I go to an office m

An icon from Rolex vs. a darling from Patek
Hello watchfam,SHORT STORY: Would love to hear your thoughts on two great timepieces I have adored for quite some time, the Patek 5167 vs. Rolex WG DD40 Olive dial. Both is not an option Before someone gets on my case that I should make my own decision. I would kindly say the fun part of this game is the discussion and understanding the thoughts from other seasoned collectors who have been around the block. -LONG STORY: My hunt for a 5167 started 8 months ago and now I finally have an opportunity to purchase one if I fly to Switzerland. Yet, I am also quite fond of owning a DD which has been on my list of watches to own. Of course I am not comparing apples to apples, but in this game, being illogical is the norm. Although they are at two different price points, I will be going the grey route on the DD to offset some of the price difference. Or if anyone wants to hook me up with their AD for spectacular pricing, let me know As much as I love the 5167, now I am thinking it i
