Talking Watches: With John Goldberger
John Goldberger doesn't play in the NBA (though, in his younger years, he could dunk a basketball – I've seen proof). He hasn't won a Grammy, nor has he dated Jessica Simpson, Jennifer Aniston, or Katy Perry (that we know of), but even if he had, he wouldn't talk about it. What John Goldberger is is a true horological scholar and serious collector of the highest order. His name in the world of watches is synonymous with expertise, quality, discretion, and taste. He is perhaps best known to watch lovers as the author of not only 100 Superlative Rolex Watches and Patek Philippe Steel Watches, but also books about early Omega and Longines. Goldberger didn't just write these books, either. He photographed, designed, and produced them too. Oh, and several of the watches featured in his books come from his personal collection. The mega-collector stands about 6 foot 3, dresses in a way that a kid from upstate New York only dreams of, and is something of a watch c
AP No. 2? Confused...BB/Volcano/Panda
AP community - I've come for advice (aka enabling and empowerment that only TRF knows how to do). I picked up my first AP (RO 15400) last month and am loving it. Since then I've been looking for a more casual/weekend watch. So this weekend I tried on a Diver at the Bal Harbour boutique, but was not so happy with it. My major issue was not liking the screw-in crown at the 10. Naturally, I then proceeded to try on a few others. I didn't think I wanted any more chronos as I have a daytona on which I never use the chrono feature. Tried a BB and a Volcano (wanted to see a panda but they didn't have one). I have to say though these ROOs are big gorgeous watches - and not to mention how the chrono dials look on the tapestry and the recessed date wheel . I'd have to say that the panda is probably the one I'd be most interested in because of the color scheme being a little more down to earth and I'm not sure I love a carbon forged case (maybe an acquired taste that will grow on me). Chrono Bracelet Problem?
Hi guys , just bought a Seamaster Chrono for everyday use but I have a problem with the dive extension. When I flex my wrist upwards the extension pops out and I have to unclip the watch and clip it back in. Just wondered if anyone else has had this problem or not ??Thank you in advance .Nigel .
It has been awhile but got my "first" PAM again
My collection hasn't had a Panerai for sometime now, but something about the PAM 389 made me jump back onboard - glad to be back!
Happy camper...
Nothing I really like. I'd gone for a steel 36mm with new movement but they are only launching it in two-tone watches. The GMT is a bit too showy, but I may warm up to it. Rather uneventful year.
