For the holidays, Corum dresses the Ti-Bridge Tourbillon in a stealthy coat of satin and black PVD. The flange, plate and bridges are crafted from ARCAP, a copper-nickle alloy that is non-magnetic and highly corrosion-resistant, and these components are coated with black ruthenium. Set off against this black background is the flying tourbillon’s gray key, emblematic of the Corum brand. The new baguette movement is suspended by two ARCAP “cross-bars” (Corum’s term), while the escapement – lacking a top bridge – appears to float above the movement.The diminutive movement is powered by twin barrels and runs in 21 jewels at 21,600 vph with a power reserve of 72 hours. Guten Morgen! And indeed it will be a good one for watch aficionados everywhere. That’s because A. Lange & Söhne unveils a new Langematik Perpetual today. We’ve covered Lange perpetual’s before (check out our Hands-On with the Richard Lange Terraluna) and even a Langematik – the one Walter Lange wears regularly. This latest release will introduce us to a new black-dial perpetual calendar in white gold.The case is a classic 38.5 mm of finely polished gold on the top and a brushed circumference around the side. Three recessed pushers are evident on the left circumference of the case at 8, 9 and 10 o’clock; a fourth is visible at 4 o’clock. These are for advancing the calendar displays either collectively or independently. The case is a rather slim 10.2 mm thick. The dial is black solid-silver. There’s a lot of careful geometry here. My 3rd AP here!
I was trying to decide between the AP Royal Oak Chrono Pride of Italy or Blue Boutique edition. I ended up with the former. They have been harder to come by of recent. I have always been attracted to the white dial and blue sub dials and accents. The dial is just beautiful. the rubber strap and somewhat cheap deployment buckle is the negative. Thus I have a bracelet on order. Would like a clear caseback --- but I knew that going into it...
