Cuervo y Sobrinos Opens First Flagship Store in Havana
Cuervo y Sobrinos, the Swiss watch brand with its origins in Havana, is opening a boutique/museum in the central historic district of Havana. CYS will be the first international watch brand to inaugurate its own store on the island of Cuba. El Reloj Cuervo y Sobrinos is located in a historic 19th century building opposite the brand’s original headquarters. Inside, one can enjoy a boutique and a museum with antique watches, writing instruments and memorabilia. An elegant bar and coffee bistro provides a gathering spot that will take visitors back to the Havana of the 1940s. In this refined Art Deco ambiance, the original vault from the old store on San Rafael is displayed. Each detail of the interior restoration is a tribute to the heritage of the brand started more than a century ago.The President of Cuervo y Sobrinos, Marzio Villa, believes this is a significant move forward for the brand: Yes we are a Swiss corporation and we can say unequivocally that we have no ties to the
Hamilton Khaki X-Patrol Watch
Ah, now here is a slide-rule bezel complication that I can use. I tend to make fun of these as I am not about to do long-division or calculate fuel consumption on a tiny slide-rule, if I need to figure that stuff out at allBut this one is actually handy. This new watch for 2012 from Hamilton is the Khaki X-Patrol and it has a metric to imperial conversion scale. That would prove useful as I often travel to Europe and having no idea how far things are and how much things weigh. I am such a proud American. It isn't going to replace a calculator, but in comparison to most slide-rule bezels out there, you'll probably use this one at least once in a while. The name of the watch sounds like it was made for some make-believe military force, but it looks pretty cool. I like how standard Hamilton Khaki watches look like they are made for actual military personnel, and the Khaki models with some extra term after them look ripe for wrist time on GI Joe character. You can decide for yourself what t
Welcome to Club AP
It has been a long time coming. I've admired AP from afar for quite some time now and after coming close a couple times over the past year, I finally pulled the trigger. I am the proud owner for my first AP, a Royal Oak Chrono! I can't even begin to describe how beautiful this watch is. We all know the dial is mesmerizing, but the craftsmanship on the bracelet is just superb. I love how the brushed and polished parts catch the light as it almost dances on the wrist. I've attached a wrist shot below, more to come once I stop over it.Only one problem though. I've had this bad boy for about 6 hours now and I'm already figuring out which AP to buy next! Oh well, looks like it's time to hunt down a Titanium Schumi. P.S. Many thanks to MB23 for coming through in the clutch and getting me a great deal after the ADs failed to deliver.
1 picture, 3 watches
Just cams across this picture, a picture I took in 2011All 3 off them beloved to a collector I know3 times white metal , what a perfect pieces !!!
Other watches need variety too!
The Daysjust and Day-Date have a ginormous variety of versions, which includes: different sizes, many different dial colours, and a vast number of other options. Overall, there are dozens upon dozens of different Datejust and Day-Date models. This begs the question: why are other Rolex models, many of which are arguably even more iconic than the Datejust and Day-Date (such as the Submariner), not given this same type of treatment? I think it would be wonderful if, for example, the Submariner could be had in 38mm and with a multitude of different dial and bezel options. Does anyone know why this disparity exists between two Rolex models and the rest of them? Let's discuss
