Squale 101 Atmos ref 2002A Orange and Black Review
It is entirely possible that you have never heard of Squale watches. Sure, it's a brand that has been around for over 60 years, but not until very recently have they come back from a sort of brand hibernation. However, back in the 60's and 70's, Squale was literally one of the top producers of dive watchcases and dive watches. They produced cases for many brands, from Tag Heuer to Doxa to Blancpain (source). They not only produced robust and well-designed cases, but made genuinely technologically innovative watches. One particularly advanced watch was the 101 Atmos, released in the late 60's, which claims to be the first 1000m dive watch without a helium escape valve and features a unique bezel design. In 2010, the brand began to produce watches again, sticking to remaking of their famous watches from the past, many of which fit right in with modern divers in terms of style and features. The 101 Atmos ref 2002A is one such watch, and is a recreation of that famous watch from the late 60
Which Royal Oak or Royal Oak Offshore?
Hi,I'm considering a Royal Oak or Royal Oak Offshore. After a few weeks of research, trying a few watches on etc, I've narrowed it down to a first generation Offshore (ref. 25721ST), the new 25th anniversary reissue (ref. 26237ST), Elephant (Ref. 26470ST) or Messi (ref. 26325TS) in steel. My first questions is if it makes any sense investing twice the money on the reissue (26237ST) of the original model (25721ST) in relation to future and long term value. Messi is a Limited Edition, which can be found at around the same price used as the reissue of the original Offshore. The Elephant is the joker at this point, and probably the worst investment of the bunch. On the wrist, I'm sure I will be pleased with any of these alternatives. What things boils down to then is the potential future demand and value, which is always a guessing game to a degree.Any advice are most welcome!
AP Boutique Paris - closed?
Am I going blind or AP closed their boutique in Paris. It's still listed on their website and everywhere else at 380 st. Honore but I passed by two times and it's not here. :) if I wasn't here two years ago I will think I missed the address. There is no info of closing or moving so I'm really confused :)
The Stripper and the Patek
The Stripper and the Patek Mar 22, 2005 - 12:50 PM (This is a reposting of an article on another watch forum).PLEASE NOTE - I am a Patek owner and my wallet has on average about $15 (if I am lucky) in it! Last week I was entertaining some Japanese business guys and they wanted to see a strip club. So we go to a strip club in sleepy little Nashville but I forgot that I had my 5970 on my wrist. We find a spot and settle in, sip a drink and a beautiful girl sits down. After a few minutes of small talk she says That's a Patek isn't it?. Feeling stupid and more than a little worried I say Nope, just a cheap copy. Looking at my wrist in almost total darkness from 3 feet away she says Yeah, it's too big to be that calendar stop watch they make... what's that one called again?. I'm thinking 'how the hell does this chick know about a 3970?'. Why the interest in watches baby?, says an uncomfortable HRC. I can sort men by their watches and shoes says the expert. Rolex guys are all flash, avera
If I could only have one...
I've been in watch heaven lately. Every watch I put on, I'm just loving. I've got four Rolex watches right now that I'm truly very happy with. And for their own reasons, any could be my only. BLNR - on the sub bracelet. Great lume. Date. Timing bezel. Nice touch of color. SubC - on green Everest. Fun. Great lume. Timing bezel. Super clean dial. WG Daytona on OF - speaks for itself. Just a beautiful watch. Perfectly balanced. Great looking. DJ41 silver, smooth, jubilee - extremely comfy. Great looking. Incredibly versatile. Any of these four I would consider myself lucky to have. And I could definitely have any one of them as an only. But if I had to choose, and Ive thought about this a lot lately, I think I finally decided it's an easy answer. And considering it's a tough decision everyday at this point, I'm almost surprised it's a clear winner for me. But here she is...
