General Thoughts on AP Accuracy
Hi all,What is everyone's general experience with AP's accuracy, specifically the 3120 movement in the AP 15400 and Divers?
New Ellipse
So what do you think for the upcoming Ellipse anniversary considering the discontinuation of the 3738 in all metals but not of the 5738P? A not so bold guess would be three new 5738 in G, R and J. Or maybe a totally new ref in similar size and probably sapphire back. The 240 is very beautiful so that would be very nice. What are your guesses and hopes?Pic of my 3738/100J. Henkan
A Case for the Lemania-Pateks
Over the last decade of collecting, I've become fascinated with Lemania based chronographs manufactured by Patek. This post is about 4 references and my thoughts on those watches. What are they? Lemania-Pateks are essentially (leaving one out :)) four modern discontinued references that once featured prominently in the Patek Philippe catalog: 3970, 5004, 5070 and 5970. All four references are manual winding chronographs and have a base caliber movement created by Lemania (CH27-70 in 5070, CH27-70Q in 3970 / 5970 and CHR27-70Q in 5004). Prior to using Lemania calibers, most Patek chronos were Valjoux based. Lemania was once an independent watch and movement manufacturer and it no longer exists today (as Lemania). Lemania made movements and other components for a number of historically important watches, including early omega speedmasters (Caliber 321). Why many collectors love them?1. 3970The 3970 is the perpetual calendar chronograph that replaced Ref. 2499. Ref. 2499 is a 38mm Valjou
118206 dials
Went to WEMPE NY on 5th today and tried on 36 mm platinum DD, 118206. What a timepiece! Seemed to weigh twice that of my gmt 2 BLNR. Anyone know if I can have Rolex exchange the glacier blue dial from several years ago with newer ice blue dial currently being used? I prefer the darker color but want to stay true to platinum line. Cost? Thanks.
Would you trade a ceramic GMT and DJII 41mm for a SD43?
I'm not saying I have this proposition in front of me, but I potentially could. Thoughts?
