Antiquorum’s Auction Season Ends With a Bang
A standing-room only crowd at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel competed against more than 250 internet bidders from over 40 countries at Antiquorum’s 2009 Hong Kong auction. The sale brought a total of HKD 45,453,120 ($5,864,199). 82% of the 479 lots offered were sold, representing 115% of the estimated value. The top price was paid for a rare Patek Philippe Ref. 3974 made in 1990. The astronomic, minute-repeating, self-winding, 18K yellow gold wristwatch with perpetual calendar, leap year indication and moon phases achieved HKD 3,000,000 ($387,049). Also making strong showing was a platinum, diamond-set Franck Muller Caliber 97 Grande et Petite Sonnerie Minute-Repeater, Perpetual Calendar made in 1997. This piece also incorporated equation of time, moon phase, and 24 hour display complications. It brought HKD 2,820,000 ($363,826). Richard Mille Tourbillon RM002 No. 57. in 18K white gold with visible one-minute tourbillon regulator, torque indicator and power reserve achieved HKD 81
Hands-On: With The Arnold & Son Ultra-Thin Tourbillon Escapement "UTTE" (Live Pics &am
When we first showed you the Arnold & Son Ultra-Thin Tourbillon Escapement, or UTTE, live from Basel World, details were scarce. We knew that it was the thinnest tourbillon available on the market today and that it would be limited in production, but now we have all the details for you, including live photos of the watch in both metals and the official pricing and availability information. This is a seriously cool watch, even if you're not typically one for tourbillons. 2 OF 15 Closer Look At The UTTE's 14mm Tourbillon Arnold & Son has released a flurry of new, technically-impressive movements over the last year or two, one of which is the calibre A&S8200 inside the UTTE. It is entirely in-house, only 2.97mm thick, and houses a 14mm one-minute tourbillon at 6 o'clock that acts as the small seconds indicator. Once cased-up, the entire UTTE is still only 8.34mm thick, which makes it the thinnest tourbillon currently available. Through two barre
Landed and it hasn't left my wrist!
The 41mm Chronograph has been on my list for a while now and I was finally able to add it over the weekend...This piece checks a lot of boxes for me...- White dial Chronograph- A little bit bigger fit (compared to say a Daytona) - AP bracelet (I thought I liked the Bracelet on my Diver - this is beautiful)I already have found it extremely versatile and super comfortable! Also wanted to thank DavidSW for making another flawless deal come together! It's been a bit overcast here but a little wrist shot is in order
Thoughts on the Submersibles
I've been thinking of adding a 25 to my collection for a piece to complement my 233. Any owners/prior owners have any comments or pics to help sway me?
The First DayJust I think
I do not own this watch but I was one click away and I was honestly in talks with the seller, but couldn't pull the trigger.I sat on it for a few days and man do I regret it. Kicking myself in the arse. In the end the seller sold it for 12,000. US. It originally was listed with a buy it now for 10000.00, then I offer him 8000.00. He said it was fine, but he wanted to get it inspected before I bought it to make sure it was all legit. So I said screw getting it looked at, Ill take it for 10,000.00 The he said he would talk to me tomorrow. The next day it was listed with a BIN of 15,000. Down to 12,500. Then sold BIN of 12000.00.A true GEM in My eyes.Did anyone else see this Beut?
