SIHH 2011, Montblanc has officially announced the TimeWalker Twinfly chronograph to the international press
SIHH 2011, Montblanc has officially announced the TimeWalker Twinfly chronograph to the international press, the 190th anniversary of the modern chronograph technology.
Yachting Timers & Watches
At worn&wound we've long been fascinated by watches that were designed specifically for individual sporting events. This is part of a series on these unique timepieces.Yacht timers C also referred to as regatta timers, yachting chronographs, or sailing watches C are watches specially designed and made for the countdown to the start of a sailing race. As you can imagine, starting a race on water, with entrants powered by the wind, is not as easy as lining up on a grid, Formula 1 style, or lined up like sprinters at a track meet, waiting for the starting gun. As we just saw in the recent America's Cup races in San Francisco, the yachts (we use the term loosely in the case of the America's Cup boats) are already at speed as they approach the starting line. The trick for the skipper is to NOT cross the starting line before the starting gun goes off. If they do, they're penalized quite heavily (how and how much depends on the rules in effect for the specific race).photo by Daniel HallSo
Is this 15400 too big for me?
I'm a huge fan of the 15202 but unfortunately I suffer from 6.3 wrists (16cm) :( however I wasn't going to let that stop me from trying it on at least. So off I went to the AD but was disappointed to hear that they didn't carry the jumbo. They did have a 15400 and I thought I'd just humour myself and I tried it on. Much to my surprise, the lugs and extended/integrated links did not hang over at all and it fit snugly around my wrist. The bracelet was too long but that was completely expected; I just pinched it back with my other hand.Anyway here are the pics. I was looking for your opinions on whether it looks too big for me overall. I'd appreciate any input and especially your candour. Thanks!I look forward to trying on a 15202 some point in the near future, which I suspect should suit my size a little better.Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Bracelet for 5711/1A
Hello, Patek lovers and experts,I have been looking for a 5711 blue dial for some time, but have had no luck in sourcing from AD. I recently have been offered a reasonably-priced one on after-market, but with an odd setup, where the owner has swapped out the bracelet for a custom-made leather strap and would not include the original bracelet. Otherwise the 5711 is in good shape and with all the papers.Hence, I need your advise as toa) is it possible to purchase a new original bracelet separately?b) would there be problems with servicing it later?c) what is the type of discount vs second-hand market price I should look for? Thanks!
ebay listing using my pics....
There is a seller on ebay listing a 5522A for sale using my pictures I posted here.... not sure how to handle this.
