Watches NEWS
I'm already pacing this morning... Mr. FedEx where are u????
Got one incoming for myself this morning.... I AM SUPER EXCITED!!!!
I cannot believe what I brought home today!
I know it's been discontinued for a few years now, but I was able to source a BNIB 2254.50...I'm really excited to have this to go with my Rolex 116610LN and 16610LV....thank God for His financial blessings! Haven't even had a chance to change the date or have it sized yet.How difficult is it to size myself or should I take it to my local AD?Here's the ceremonial picture!
3940 - Old or new ?
I am currently deciding between a 5140 and 3940 as my first PP everyday watch. Looking at the offers, I have come across an earlyish - 1993 - version of the 3940, and some later examples made closer to the retirement of the 3940.I have not yet managed to get any sense of which of these is considered the more interesting amongst PP aficionados, is the more 'collectible', and is the more likely to hold its value. I obviously realise that there may be more mechanical uncertainties with an older watch (unless it has been PP maintained throughout its life) but would be grateful for any views on the more general questions.
Rolex Appraisal
Went to my local Rolex AD this weekend and brought my submariner in with box and all the papers for an appraisal so I can insure the watch. The owner of the store was there and asked if I was the original owner of the watch, to which I said no ( as there is someone else's name on the warranty card). I explained that I bought this online from a trusted preowned seller. He refused to give me an appraisal on the watch because I wasn't the original owner......Is this common? He also acted pretty snobbish when I told him where I bought the watch......funny as his his shop was completely empty of customer as per usual.....
Why no GMT ads ?
I am curious and thought I'd throw this out there. Since getting my gmt nearly two years ago I have yet to see any Rolex print ads featuring a gmt. I read several newspapers on line and magazines as well and have yet to see one. What gives?
