Rolex Deepsea Sea-Dweller D-Blue Dial, James Cameron Deepsea Challenge 3D Movie
Rolex doesn't normally release watches outside of its normal Baselworld schedule, but today they have made their very first exception to that rule by releasing the new Rolex Deepsea Sea-Dweller with D-Blue Dial 116660 watch. It has a blue and black gradient dial with a vibrant green colored "DEEPSEA" text on the dial. Interestingly enough the reference number for the D-Blue is the same as the standard black-dialed Deepsea.Another testament to the?unique nature?of this occasion?is how Rolex teased that the announcement would be on August 4th 2014 a few days in advance. Many considered Rolex to be quite late with the announcement as it was August 5th in much of the world by the time it was released. Patek Philippe 5167 (XL 40 mm) Aquanaut
Since I saw recently a few posts about Patek and the Aquanaut , here's my contribution.I must say that I did not like the Aquanaut nor the Nautilus 3 years ago.But your mind can change :)4 Months ago when the introduced the new 5167 I had the impression I could like that watch.I liked the dial a lot more than the previous dial.So I called my dealer and ordered one.I september 2007 I got the call. I went to his store, tried the watch ... and bought it.It's gorgeousImo you can wear it as a dress watch (with the leather strap) and as a sportswatch with the original rubber strap.The finishing is like one would expect from Patek : PERFECTThe movement is the 315 (which will be rare).Only the first 2 or 3 months they were delivered with the 315, all the others in the years to come will have the calibre 324Anyway, here are some pics

OK, Basel is here (well just about!). And now that it is... A thought just crossed my mind? What other industry/company (it's not just Rolex) are able to enjoy a ten year+ product life cycle? And, the product (I'm sensing that the Coke GMT on a jubilee is the most anticipated) that is getting the most people excited is a decade plus old model being reunited with a part from the seventies!!!We all know the other ultra hot non Rolex models AP5202, PP 5711, both models 40 years old. What other luxury product that contains mechanical and aesthetical components can endure this lifecycle?Are we all mad?
