Another Record Year for COSC in 2008
After setting records in 2006 and 2007, the Contr?le officiel suisse des chronomtres (COSC) once again issued a record number of attestations in 2008 with 1,599,588, an increase of +8.6% over the 2007 results. The number of timepieces submitted rose by 10.6% to 1,676,515. Of these, 1,536,950 were awarded to mechanical movements and 62,638 went to quartz calibers, with the large majority of the latter (56,224) going to Breitling products. In terms of manufacturers, there was no change in the leading trio which has stayed the same in recent years: Rolex received 769,850 certificates, followed by Omega with 377,514 and Breitling with 234,021.The remaining manufacturers to receive at least 1000 certificates are:Panerai (46,446)TAG Heuer (35,429)Chopard (22,977)Mido (10,870)Ulysse Nardin (10,249)Enicar (8,861)Ebel (8,823)Corum (8,801)Chanel (8,407)Bulgari (8,067)Rado (5,807)Ball Watch (4,312)Tissot (3,767)Titoni (3,513)Movado (3,446)Carl F. The Seven Best Watches Of 2015 That You Probably Forgot About
For the past few years, it seems like we've seen a new watch announced every day of the week – doesn't it? It does to us, and we do our best to only show you the finest watches out there – the watches worth knowing about. But we've still seen so many new introductions this year – and some of them have been huge, like Tudor's Black Bay Black, Patek's enamel dialed, split-seconds 5370, AP's new perpetual calendar Royal Oak, JLC's ticking Geophysic, and, of course, Vacheron's 57260, the most complicated watch, ever. But, there have been some absolute gems that came out this year that we've absolutely loved – but that didn't receive much fanfare from the masses, and in some cases, went totally under the radar. Here we'll show you seven watches introduced in 2015 that are absolutely awesome, though you likely forgot about them. 1. The Rotonde De Cartier Chronograph 1 OF 8 What Is It?I say this every tim
GMT Watch Stop Woes
My Seamaster GMT Co-Axial (cal:2628) doesn't appear to auto wind. It winds OK by hand and keeps accurate time but will not maintain power on the watchwinder or by wearing. Just stops when power reserve is low(after stopping and starting for a while). It's around 3 years old. Looks like it will need to go to the service centre. I was wondering though if it only requires a normal service or if there is something more wrong. Appreciate any comments.
Matching watch with significant other?
Do most here have matching watch with their significant other? Such as a Nautilus for men and lady?I personally don't have a matching watch with wife except we both have Daytona but not the exactly same line or his/hers. I wear the SS usually (now also a 5167) and she wears the RG (now the twenty-four steel).
16710 Prices
Hi All, I got a 2004 16710 pepsi with the full works about 2 years ago and got it serviced by Rolex UK, in total about ?3500 including the service (Yes I know they were just over ?2200 new!). My question is about values - around the time I got mine, dealers were asking ?5000 then over a few months that increased to around ?6000. It seems crazy money - and now seems to have settled at about that level. What are peoples thoughts on why, and what may happen next? It's not like it was just discontinued a year or two ago!
