Breguet Travel Clock No. 1 for Only Watch
Breguet built the first modern travel clock in 1796. He equipped it with a balance spring, successfully replacing the pendulum balance that was unfit for travel. Glass-covered on four sides and small in size, this clock bore the number 178. In April 1798, General Bonaparte purchased it to take with him on his Egyptian campaign. Today, the Breguet collection still includes a travel clock fitted with both a hand-wound mechanical movement and thermometer, and it is on this clock that Breguet has based a limited series of seven travel clocks, the first of which, number one of seven, they have donated to Only Watch. The clock is in the Art Deco style with columns and traditionally hand-guilloch dial. Breguet craftsmen still use guillochage lathes designed and built over a century ago. Once the dial plate has been hand-guillochaged, it is silver coated using techniques developed over two centuries ago. The well-finished, manual-winding movement in this clock is entirely made in Breguet's Val
Cost of Omega PO V Rolex Subs
Just wanted to get some thoughts on the cost of Omega Planet Ocean V Rolex Submariners! I have owned both and recently sold the Sub (2010 model) and kept the Planet Ocean = mainly due to small differences - better bracelet and easier to read.In the UK you can pick up a Planet Ocean for approx ?2300 and a Sub for around ?4000 almost double! The Planet Ocean has a 600 metre dive capacity and the Sub is 300 metre dive capacity, Co Axial for less servicing etc.,in most comparisons I read on the interent (opinion I know) the 2 watches are rated about the same.My question is - Is a Rolex Sub twice as good a Planet Ocean (as the price may suggest) or is there not much between them as I think. Is a Rolex Sub worth the extra money? and why?
Omega GMT package
I've had this Omega for a week and, the whole package is a pretty well put together. The white outer box is made from solid thick white cardboard, with a compartment for the warranty cards, instruction book (hardback) and of course the watch. The watch itself is housed in the inner box of soft red leather. The watch with positional adjustment overnight is about +1 second per day. Given that the watch was purchased used and had traveled internationally in the mail, then I dropped it onto a wooden floor, I think that is quite exceptional timekeeping (at least in the short period I've owned it).Now I'm waiting for the original COSC results/certificate which for the enthusiast and those technically minded is one hell of a bonus The sword hands and the nicely sized GMT hands really add to the pleasure of this watch, making it highly visible in any lighting conditions. The wave pattern on the dial is a very interesting effect, although it looks quite dominating in the photographs it is very sub
Nautilus advice please
Morning world. I am only a few days into owning the 5712 and I am amazed with it. Absolutely beautiful. I just wanted advice on the bracelet from other owners please. I have previously favoured Rolex sports watches, the glidelock and old GMT straps are perfect as I get hot in the house and then cold when out in the English weather. I got the strap sized at the AD fairly tight thinking I was very hot, but in the house or office it still seems quite tight and the crown tends to irritate a little. Shall I get a link added back in or I believe they do a 1.5 or 1.25? It's just the AD is a good 2 hours away so not in the doorstep. When my wrist is normal it seems perfect but if I say do a press up position with my wrist the crown digs in and it does seem to nip my hairy wrist quite a bit. Thanks in advance. Andy.
