SIHH Preview: Parmigiani Tonda 1950

With the Tonda 1950, the designers at Parmigiani Fleurier capture the brand’s essence with a few brushstrokes. Parmigiani’s newest movement – the twelfth in-house caliber from the manufacture – is the PF 700, an extra-thin automatic that powers the Tonda 1950. The movement is 30mm or 13 ? lignes in diameter and just 2.6 mm thick, with an off-center micro-oscillating weight in platinum 950. A single barrel provides 42 hours of autonomy.The nickel silver main plate is sand-blasted, circular-grained and then rhodium-plated. The bridges are sand-blasted, rubbed-down or “C?te de Gen��ve” decorated, then beveled by hand and, finally, rhodium-plated. Breaking News: SIHH Welcomes Nine New Independent Watch Makers In 2016
SIHH has announced that they will be welcoming nine new independent watch brands to next year's exhibition. There have been rumors of some changes happening at the 2016 SIHH, including layout and design, but now it has been confirmed that the exhibition will be expanding its roster of haute horlogerie firms to include nine more independent brands. These brands are: Christophe Claret, De Bethune, H.Moser & Cie, Hautlence, HYT, Kari Voutilainen, Laurent Ferrier, MB&F, and Urwerk. Additionally, Ralph Lauren will not be showing this year – the company has stated that they wish to focus more on their U.S. market. In an interview with the Swiss publication, Bilan, SIHH states that they have been open to including independent brands in the exhibition since 1998. Old Navitimer second hand issues
Just bought and received a Breitling Old Navitimer II D13022 model today. The watch for its age looks real nice. It came with a black leather Breitling buckle band. When I tired to use the Chronograph feature the second hand would only go around almost once and stop just before the 12 o'clock position. A lite tap on my palm and it would continue around again to almost the 12 o'clock position and then stop. All the time this was happening over the course of about 15 minutes the 12 and 6 o'clock dial never advanced at all. Obviously bummed out like nobody's business. I contacted the company I bought it from and they emailed me a shipping label and back it went today. They told me there watchmaker will look at it ASAP and hopefully I will have it back on Thursday. Not bad service and the sales guy told me it may have been damaged in shipping is the only thing they can assume.I guess anything can happen but it was packaged well with no evidence of damage to the box. Ceramic vs carbotech
Would you rather own full ceramic (case and bracelet) Pam 438?Ceramic Pam 441?Or Carbotech Pam 661?My birthday is end of November and I am already planning a gift for 2018 lol. Just bought a 511 so no more watch for a year as per an agreement with the wifey !Anyway, I am leaning towards those three but am a bit concerned on the versatility of a full black watch. I really like the Tuttonero but wonder in the long run if the black on black, on black,might be too much with not enough pop and contrast. After all I am used to SS the most.So which one and why? Or is it better to stick with titanium and steel? Currently I only have a Pam 511 that I will NEVER sell as I am at last REALLY content with this one.
