Thoughts on Resale Value of AP vs Hublot and Comparison in General
As some of you know I just recently purchased my first AP watch. I am thrilled with it and have been enjoying it! One of my co-workers is also a watch nut and a discussion came up as to the similarities between Genta's Royal Oak design and the Hublot. So much in fact, that the only compliments I've received on my new watch to this point has been Oh, thats really nice watch! Is that a Hublot? Not that I care so much - but it was interesting. Any of you experience that?I am curious to hear the thoughts of the forum on why AP commands such a higher purchase price and also in resale vs. Hublot? With two watch brands that are very similar in look, it seems that Hublot is constantly innovating and developing new designs around this same theme while AP is just doing the same and raising prices. Just curious...
Price increase-
Does anyone know what the price increase was and which models had it?
My new AP unveiled...
I've been wanting a forged carbon / ceramet AP since 2009. The lightness of carbon combined with the scratch resistance of ceramics is a killer combo. Top that off with the killer styling of the ROO line and you've got a winner. While there are now a number of Carbon/Ceramic ROOs, the 44mm watches are just too big for my 6.5 wrist. That leaves only one choice (for now)... presenting my 42mm AP Bumblebee!I'll post my impressions in a few days but I've already got some changes in mind.?In case anyone wants to name it, a la Sam, I'm thinking of naming it after Bruce Lee (love that yellow and black jumpsuit man!). Thanks for your patience in following my incoming thread!
Question Regarding Speedy 3321.80
Hey guys,I'm being offered a Speedy Day Date with a blue dial and gold bezel with a two tone strap. It's from the late 90's. Personally, I think it looks pretty good. Always wanted a blue faced watch ever since I gave my smp to my brother in law.Anyway, I just wanted to ask those of you who know about speedy day dates about the case diameter. I'm getting conflicting reports, officially they're said to have a 37mm diameter, which I think is really small. Others are saying they're 39mm, which would be like my Breguet Type XX, which is fine. So, which is it really?Been trying to look all over but I can't seem to find many records online about this model. So, if any of you have any info about it, it'd be greatly appreciated.Hoping you guys could help me out.regards, lorsban
Less Formal PP for a younger guy
Hi PP forum,I have been looking a while at PPs. I've always loved the Calatrava, but I'm still in my mid/late 20s and the most formal I ever dress is chinos & a dress shirt, never a suit, so I think the model would not really suit me that well. I'm also quite big (used to do a lot of weight lifting when I was younger) so I need something which won't look dainty of my wrist/arm.I live a couple of hours from London where all the PP dealers are, so I need to have a few models lined up before I go there so I can make sure they have stock of everything I want to try.I currently own:- YG Rolex GMTIIC- Navy AP Royal Oak Offshore- Steel & WG DateJust IIAs such I am looking for something a bit more dressy & smart, a leather strap would be nice. But still something that is a little chunkier and will suit a casual dressing younger guy going out to a nice dinner, etc.It won't be my daily, any gold or platinum is fine, I can't go for anything over 30k ($50k) brand new list price. Any o
