14th International Chronometry Congress Considers Time and Sport: Technological and Human Challenges
The 14th International Chronometry Congress of the Swiss Chronometry Society meets September 28-29 at the Salle Stravinsk in Montreux, Switzerland. This year’s theme is “Time and Sport: Technological and Human Challenges”. During the Congress, about twenty lectures will be presented to over 500 watchmakers, technicians, engineers and professionals. Selected presentations will summarize the latest technological innovations regarding chronometry. Others will allow participants to enter an athlete's mind by questioning his relationship with time. The Congress is proud to welcome important athletes including Erica Reymond Hess (Alpine Skiing), Stefan Volery (Swimming), Magali Di Marco Messmer (Triathlon), Ren�� Arnoux (Formula 1 racing).In parallel with the Congress, and in light of the success of the exhibit that took place during the 2009 Journ��e d'Etude, the Swiss Chronometry Society will organize a new exhibit about sport watches, which will be open only to those atten

Good Experience at HSWA New York
Not belittling anyone's negative experiences, it just seems that people only post when they have negative experiences, and not positive ones, myself I have had good experiences with the Patek service center in NYC. Went there today with my Annual calendar, it's an older model and the clasp was a bit loose, very courteous and friendly staff, they sat me down in a private waiting room with some nice magazines and Swiss chocolate. They said they would have the repaired while I wait, and that they would pressure test the watch and make sure the oils and seals were good and that it's keeping proper time, I was in and out in about 15 minutes total. Could not have asked for better service.Fortunately my watch is running well, no need for service, as the woman helping me mentioned that since the service times are currently about 8 months, she would recommend waiting until I have any issues before servicing, and that hopefully by the time I need service, the wait times will be shorter.

My Afternoon visit at Rolex Canada
While at work, I decided to pop into Rolex Canada head office today on the spur of the moment to get my YM2 bracelet ultrasonically cleaned. As I recently purchased the SD43, I'm getting ready to put the YM2 away for a bit while I wear my new toy so I wanted to get the bracelet cleaned properly before boxing it.As it was spur of the moment, I forgot my warrantee card at home. On other occasions that I have gone over to Rolex Canada, I've always prepared by bringing the card along with me.I called from work first before going to see if they could squeeze me in. No problem was the answer. Come on in! So I went in during my lunch hour. It's been about 3 years since I last visited Rolex Canada and let me say, things change every time I go. My very first visit to Rolex Canada back in 2007, I just walked through their unlocked front door to an elevator and went up to the 2nd floor. New Day Date & Stick/Lume question
Took me a while to get round to it, but finally posting about a new (BNIB with stickers) day date I acquired at the end of last year. It's a white gold 118209 that I'd wanted for a while, and had to give up my 3-watch SS rolex collection to get it (together more cash than I would have liked to make up the difference) but absolutely no regrets so far, and it's a watch I hope to wear for very long while. It's from around 2008 so has the newer bracelet/engraved rehaut but when I decided to change out the dial from silver to black, I ended up going with with the older stick/baton dial design, rather than the newer dials that have lume as markers. This may seem an odd choice to some but I had a old 5 digit datejust for about 10 years and there's something I really like about the classic/timeless style of the old stick dials, and also given the watch itself is white gold I though why not be consistent. Saying that I do like the presence/stronger impact of the lume on the newer dials too. J
