Zenith Academy Georges Favre-Jacot Celebrates the Brand’s 150th Anniversary
In 1865, 22-year-old Georges Favre-Jacot founded his watch manufacture in Le Locle, giving birth to the watch brand we know today as Zenith. To mark Zenith's 150th anniversary in 2014, the brand launched the Academy Georges Favre-Jacot, a limited-edition timepiece featuring a rare and ancient complication.A special occasion deserves a special timepiece, and Zenith delivers. The Zenith Academy Georges Favre-Jacot houses a very special interpretation of the brand's famous high-frequency, hand-wound El Primero movement. The Audemars Piquet 15400....
The Audemars Piquet 15400.Tried one on at the weekend and fell absolutely truly madly deeply head over heels for it.....Even more so than the long-lusted after Blancpain Fifty Fathoms which I also tried on in Selfridges Wonder-Room in London.Beautiful as it is though, I really don't think it'll take a daily beating at the skip (dumpster?) yard that I manage quite as well as my 216570, so unfortunately it's gonna have to wait 'til my bonus at the tail end of the year. But trust me: The AP 15400 is Spuds new 'one day watch'......as in 'one day I WILL have one'.
Picked this up over the weekend .... AP15305
and I couldn't be happier......
Tried a Few Nice Pieces
While in London last week, I had the opportunity to try some great pieces in Wempe New Bond Street:- The new 44mm ROO in SS- ROO Jarno Trulli- also snuck in a PAM231No pics unfortunately, but I made some good decision making progress, also realising how skewed my thoughts on size have become, after wearing the Bronzo for a couple of weeks. So, the 44mm ROO is utterly fantastic. It didn't feel that big (see what I mean), but the only aspect that bugged me was that the shoulders almost overhung my wrist top to bottom. Its just a little to long for me, if that makes sense Lots has been said about the Trulli, so it was just nice to finally handle one. Felt a little dinky in the present company, but what a killer stealth piece. Then the shocker for me, as I really didn't get on with the 44mm Rad. Looks like I'll have to stick with the 1950 cases
