Exclusive Hands-On Look At The Swatch Sistem51, A Revolutionary Mechanical Watch (Exclusive Live Pics)
One of the most exciting releases at Basel World 2013 came from Swatch, which isn't exactly the most talked about brand here at HODINKEE. The Sistem51 is the world's first mechanical movement with entirely automated assembly. It has only 51 components, all of which are anchored to a central screw, a 90 hour power reserve, and, oh yeah, it's 100% Swiss made. While there was one Sistem51 prominently displayed in a glass case at the center of Swatch's Basel exhibition, here we have an exclusive hands-on look at this revolutionary watch.?? Seriously guys, this could be a game-changer. 2 OF 25 Sistem51 Dial Detail Back in 1983, Swatch launched with the mission of making Swiss watches mass produce-able and available to everyone in the wake of the quartz crisis. By reducing the number of components in a quartz movement from the typical 91 to a much more?manageable?51, Swatch was able to fully automate production. This, combined with the brand's commitment to popular culture
Mens NOS Omega Military Seamaster 300 Divers Watch 1970
New to the board and was hoping to get some feedback from some of you boardmembers who are omega fanatics......For sometime now I've seen these NOS Omega Seamaster watches posted on Ebay...I've done some various google searches on these watches and it seems that there is a company called Watchco in Australia which was a former distributor and authorized repair facility for Omega and they continue to make these watches out of NOS parts. I-ve posted a link to a current auction and have included a couple of pics also below.....I am a fan of vintage watches and the look of this watch with the stainless mesh bend is fantastic. I wanted to see if anyone on the board has one of these NOS watches and get your impression feedback and wrist pics. It would be especially interesting to see one of these side by side with a rolex sub or gmtcgi.ebay/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=STRK:MEWAX:ITCHEERS!

DJ 41 vs. DJ II
Hey guys. I went to one of my local ADs this past weekend to check out the new stainless steel DJ 41 in person. I am still waiting for them to get a rhodium / smooth / oyster configuration. I figured I'd still check out the blue dial because I used to own the same configuration in the DJ II and it would make for a good comparison pic to those interested. While I am still going to wait to see the rhodium dial in person before making my decision, I am now leaning towards the DJ 36 in the silver stick, fluted bezel, oyster bracelet combo. I hope everyone had a great weekend
