Customize and Revitalize Your Watch With A New Strap Or Bracelet
H-R Breitling-Style Genuine Alligator Watch StrapMost people cannot do much on their own to customize the watches they own. Changing the hands, or colors are beyond our ability both in expertise and the tools we have available. This can create a problem for the creative among us who really want to make watches "our own." One effective outlet for creativity however, is placing a new bracelet or strap (band) on your watch. You must first understand that this does not work with every watch. Some watches or watch makers as a whole, have special proprietary watch strap or bracelet connections that won't allow for a universal connection, and other watches have straps that won't come off at all. However, most watches give you the ability to remove and change the strap or bracelet. If you are unsure how to do any of the following, you can always buy a fitting strap or bracelet yourself and take it to a watch repair person or store that can do the work for you cheaply. chronomat question
I put my chronomat on a winder when not on my wrist. After a few days on the winder, the watch stops. I manually wind the watch and then it starts working again. Does anyone have any suggestions and or recommendations as to what could be wrong. Thx
Seeing Seamasters !
Of all the vintage omega lines, i would say semasters are the most underated. I think 1950's seamasters are the peak of the range for my eyes, and you can still pick up a near mint one for around $400 with a LOT of time spent searching through ebay. This one is amongst the very first bumper semasters from 1950, cal 351.. bought for $400. Next to it is a younger brother from the late 1950'si think they make the perfect affordable dress watch
5980/1A Availability
I know this is a long shot given it's discontinued now, but is it possible to find a white 5980/1A new from an AD? Anyone have any leads they could send my way? Really love the piece but wife is adamant about AD only, so this one may be out unless an AD's got one in the safe somewhere. Many thanks in advance and apologies if asking for help finding one is taboo, please feel free to delete if so!
Shell strap authenticity from Bruce and Donna Ginsberg?
I recently purchased a strap for my brand-new PAM 422 from Bruce and Donna Ginsberg that purported to be Horween shell cordovan. I own numerous pairs of Alden shell cordovan shoes and am quite familiar how the material looks and behaves in footwear. There are a number of things about this strap that seems suspect to me, including how supple it is immediately (my shell shoes have taken a long while for the uppers to soften), the lack of color depth, and the stamp on the underside of the strap. The stamp doesn't look like the standard Horween stamp, and the trademark symbol that is normally above the N in Horween is adjacent to it. Horween also tries to have small portions of the larger stamp on most parts of the underside of the shell, and yet that is not visible on this strap. If I had to guess, I'd think the strap was one of the imitation shell cordovan materials that are a coated calf or other such thing. Has anyone here purchased a shell strap from Bruce and Donna, and if so, are yo
