May 1, 2014, marks an important milestone in the Swiss watch industry. It is 175 years ago to the day that Patek Philippe perhaps the world’s most prestigious Swiss watch brand, and the last family-owned watch company in Geneva was founded. In a letter released to the press, Patek Philippe president Thierry Stern states:“Today, May 1, 2014, I am happy to announce the 175th anniversary of Patek Philippe, and the imminent launch of a special timeline at patek to showcase our history – the longest uninterrupted history of any watch brand. The timeline will be continuously enriched throughout the year, with fascinating stories from our past and present.“We believe that one of the secrets of our success has been our independence (we are the last family-owned watch manufacture in Geneva). Show me your Watch Trilogy (that's less then $25k)
Earlier last year, I ended up purchasing the Omega 1957 Trilogy Set but soon realized the Speedmaster was the only watch I connected with from that series. I ended up selling the Omega Trilogy Set and purchased the watches below (Explorer I 214270 Full Lume, SD4K and 60th anniversary Speedmaster). So it got me thinking what a good trilogy set would be that covered all my needs at that $25k price point. I think I finally found my three but curious as to what others have or would recommend at that particular price point. Pics are appreciated!
Incoming - Filling out the Hangar (winder)
Hello Chaps, with the great assistance of TempoKing, I finally pulled the trigger on a GMT Master II that I have been chewing on for a year or so since I sold the Explorer II that I Bought from Gagan (another S&G). Great transactions with both and thrilled to have a Rolex back on my wrist. TempoKing even put in my green date wheel gratis. What a guy!!!The build quality of fit and finish of Rolex just puts a smile on my face. I work in aviation and what we can do with metal is just incredible and probably slants my view of manufacturing and metal finishes. I didn't think the Explorer really suited me. But I am loving the GMT and the PSLs. I have many pilot friends with various GMTs and coveted them. No longer! This watch is from the same year as my newborn son and I plan to give it to him when he is older. My grandfather wore a Rolex for many years back in the day and it was one of the you wind versions. My father wore it for a few years but the taking it off to wash your hands thi
