Which Royal Oak?
Hi guysFor those of you who read the Rolex section on this forum, you may have seen that my wife has endorsed the purchase of a Royal Oak and a Nautilus, and we now have a three year plan to achieve this. The plan is as follows:1.Buy a Royal Oak for me which will occasionally be worn by my wife2.Buy a Nautilus for me and give the Royal Oak to my wife (to be worn by me occasionally)I currently have a Sea Dweller as my daily wearer and this will stay in the collection. My wife has a blue faced Rolex Perpetual which will continue to be her main daily. It's also worth noting that a watch that fits me perfectly is a touch loose on my wife, which is how she likes to wear her watches, so my skinny wrists (c.6.5 ) are finally doing me a favour!I have 9 months to give this proper consideration (as need to save) and will try on various watches, but keen to get the party started and would appreciate the view of anyone who has been on the same journey. The questions on my mind right now are:1.Alth
Would like to get an AP soon, shipping insurance overseas
Hello,I previously had 2 AP's and looking to get the new 39mm AP ROO 15202 extra thin 40th anni.I bought a GMT 2nd hand online and shipped it sans insurance, considering to get an AP which is another league price wise and I dont intend risking it with no insurance. Can anyone help me with this, how its done ?Anyone know where I can get that 39mm Jumbo ?
I adore this classic reference
When I saw it first, I instantly fell in love...a true beauty in my eyes, the domed crystal, the sandwich dial, the brushed case and polished bezel, the 8 days power indicator, the AM/PM indicator and the GMT function. In short my daily friend and a keeper. And my good friend when I smoke my current favorite cigar, the Sancho Panza Eslavo regional release for Serbia, released 2014.Life can be beautiful.
The want/need for the new
So with all this talk of Basel coming up (which is all new to me btw, I hadn't even heard of Basel until about Sept last year) it got me thinking about how so many of us, the watch buying public have the need to get hold of the latest item.I'm equally guilty, I get the feeling after buying a new car last year, only to find out there will be a replacement launched in a few months. Now it's an awesome car, almost faultless and really makes me feel special, and satisfied my needs - until the news of a new one came out. Where does this come from? Is it a generational thing? I'm 30yrs old.How I linked this to watches, specifically Rolex, was the thought that before access to the Internet was like it is today, did regular guys like me not get to know about the new latest Rolex, and was therefore more likely to keep it for a much longer time? Is the thought of holding onto something special because you worked hard for it dying away? I look at vintage Rolex that are simply beautiful, and altho
