Breaking News: Harry Winston Is Acquired By The Swatch Group (Plus Some Things To Consider)
While there have been rumors that famed NY-based jeweler and watchmaker Harry Winston was in "sell-mode" for a while, we don't think anyone expected this.? In news coming from both side of the equation today, 100% of the Harry Winston company has been acquired by none other than the owner of Omega, Breguet, Hamilton, and like a zillion other watch brands, the Swatch Group. This marks a decided change for Winston, who was for a long time completely independent and privately held, and most recently, publicly traded but essentially independent.? To be fully acquired by a large conglomerate will mean a lot of changes to Winston, and we'll be anxious to see how this plays out. Here are some things to consider in this deal, from our perspective:- Harry Winston is considered the only true "high-luxury" brand remaining in America.? It has a fantastic legacy of true glamor and prestige (the Hope diamond is a Winston diamond), and to see it go into the hands of a giant Swiss conglomerate is bitter
15400st vs 26320st
Hi, I am considering between 15400st white/black and 26320st blue, is it worth the extra money for the 26320st blue? Since it's not an inhouse movement, the case back isnt transparent and an older model. Thank you.Leo
Incoming BLNR... but still have to wait!
I love dual time watches. They are a great tool for me where I can check different time zones easily. The Casio works awesome for that. But once you get hooked on to automatic/mechanical watches, there is no looking back. Got the SS SkyD, but something was missing. It just didn't seem right for me! So moved on from it.The GMT Master would have been a better choice, given you can track 3 time zone at once. The GMT LN was really nice, but it didn't sing to me. Finding the BLNR seemed more challenging. The one I got to try was already spoken for. Scouting every AD in every country I visited. Finally, I emailed the AD I got my TT Daytona from, about how much I wanted the BLNR. He put in a special order for me. Less than a week later got the call at 3 am(last night, I am 12 hours ahead of US). Even the AD was surprised that they got the BLNR for me so fast. So stoked Can't wait for it. Have to wait 2 weeks before I will be flying back to stateside. Eagerly counting the days down! Building a
Visited 4 ADs in South Florida this week...
While looking for a new Rolex for my wife's up coming birthday, this week I stopped by four different AD's in South Florida. While at each store I also asked about the availability of the elusive GMT 116710 BLNR. While each stored had great inventory none had the BLNR in stock. This is what I experienced:Mayors said they had none in their system but could order one directly through Rolex and could have it in 3-4 weeks with a 20% refundable deposit. I asked if I put a larger deposit or paid in full if I could get it quicker and he said no as it still takes 3-4 weeks to get it from Geneva.Weston Jewelers said they had one come in on Wed. but was sold very quickly as they worked their way down their waiting list. He said no deposit required.JR Dunn laughed and said that their waiting list was very very long but since I bought two watches from them two years ago I would get priority ranking over someone who hadn't made a purchase. He said they haven't had a BLNR in their store in four months
Part number for 116233 crystal?
Hello I'm a vintage guy so all of my manuals predate this watch. My sis in law asked my help to find her a factory replacement crystal. Can you tell me the part number? Thanks in advance.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
