Baselworld 2013: Rolex Day-Date New Colors Announced
For Rolex, Baselworld 2013 seems to be all about color. Not only has the brand introduced new color variants for both the GMT-Master II and the Daytona, but they have also announced a series of new colorful versions for the Rolex Day-Date range. Spanning six different colors across three different gold cases, these new Rolex Day-Date models reflect the current popularity of wearing a Rolex Day-Date or Rolex Datejust on a leather strap. Each model color has a matching strap that accents the dial color and offers a fun and youthful vibe not always associated with this normally conservative Swiss brand. Cases can be had in 18 ct yellow, white or Rolex's Everose gold, each metal has its own range of colored dials. These new Rolex Day-Dates offer the following dial color choices, green or cognac matched with yellow gold, blue or cherry with white gold, and chocolate or rhodium for Averroes models. Aside from these new colors, the 118138/118139 Rolex Day-Date is unchanged from the standar
Chaumet Class One XXL Chronograph Watch Available On James List
I am a sucker for high-end fashion dive watches from brands like Chanel, Louis Vuitton, and Chaumet. Some of these are very rare, but they are usually all well-done for what they are. A high-end fashion dive watch is more or less a designer style diver from one of the big fashion brands. I am not sure who first made this concept appealing the modern sense, but credit may go to Chanel for essentially taking the theme of the Rolex Submariner and making an all ceramic watch that looks sexy and sporty at the same time.Chaumet's offering in this arena is the Class One range. Compared to some of the other high-end fashion houses the Chaumet Class One has a wide assortment of options and styles. In addition to three-hand, GMT, and chronograph models, the Class One has been offered in a large range of looks and sizes (for men and women). For me the best model is the Class One XXL that is 45mm wide and offered in steel and titanium, titanium, or in rose gold. This size has the GMT and Chronogra
Speedmaster Pro 45th Anniversary Edition at AD
Passed by an AD today and saw the 45th Anniversary Speedy Pro in the display, so snapped a quick photo of it. Didn't get a chance to hold it or try it on the wrist unfortunately. In some of the photos I've seen online I thought the dial may be a bit dull/flat, but in person it actually looks quite nice, and the applied markers gives it some nice contrast.
My First Panerai - Radiomir PAM210
I thought long and hard and did a lot of research before choosing this piece, which for me probably best represents Panarai's great history. I also much prefer the Radiomir case to the Luminor, even if it isn't as iconic today. It's a really comfortable watch to wear, fits me well for a 45mm, and I'm really enjoying the change of pace which a two hander offers. It's a 2009 model and I don't know much about its history, but it's in excellent shape and looks solid on my Timegrapher (+6 s/d, nice even lines), so very happy with this purchase. I did think about the more modern 610, but wanted a sandwich dial, and the ease of servicing (and better looks in my opinion) of the ETA/Unitas 6497 movement over the in-house version appealed to me. I also enjoy winding my watches so an eight day power reserve on the newer watch is actually a drawback for me!I've already bought a couple of (cheap) straps ... now considering at least one good quality hand made one.
Lil' bro turning 25
So lil brother is turning 25 this year and I think it's time for him to join the big boys club :)He always into military, nasa, and those kinda things and Im thinking to grab him a speedy moonwatch. I have a good relation with omega AD here, so can get a good discount for sure (or I just can give him mine). But at the same time I'm thinking he will appreciate Sub ND as well, I can totally see him using nato strap or any military inspired straps with the Sub. Only problem is, no good relation with Rolex AD here, and with the low stock and high demand for the SS models, might need to go with the greys, just bought BLNR from this good grey dealer, so might can get a discount. But I don't think he's ready for a S$10K (Singapore dollar) watch on his hand, maybe when he's 30 LOLAny suggestions or recommendations will be appreciated!
