John Mayer On Watches: My Thoughts On The Bell & Ross BR126 Chronograph, By John Mayer
This past November I had the rare opportunity to sit on the jury of the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève. For one day, myself and 22 other far-more-qualified watch lovers closely examined 71 watches in 14 categories, spanning the entire world of watchmaking from the $3,100 non-complication Tudor Black Bay to a woman’s tourbillion made by Bovet that retails for over $200,000. Of all the watches that I saw, one that really stood out to me was the Bell & Ross BR126 Sport Heritage Chronograph. An entry in the Sport Watch category, The Sport Heritage Chronograph didn’t take home an award at the ceremony, but it left a lasting impression on me for holding its own against all the other watches in the running. 2 OF 20 A Closer Look At The Bell & Ross BR 126 Sport Heritage Chronograph Here’s one thing I’ve learned in my years as both an artist and a watch collector: great design costs the same to produce as bad design. AP Boutqies Lighting
Who else thinks that lighting at AP boutiques make their watches look cheap and ugly? The SS models in particular. I literally have to cover the lights whenever I view watches over there. Lights are just too bright. Watches look best in indirect lighting condition IMO. What are your takes on this?I mean look at some of the photos people post at AD's and boutiques; ROO and RO look hideous sometimes.

100th post, and first patek
Today is another one of those monumental days in our rarified hobby. A step into a new brand, or the realisation of something long awaited. I remember the first time I saw the 5711 was christmas 2011, so a very long 6 years ago... But even back then, all I could think about was the rolex submariner I had been learning about and saving up to buy. Since then many rolex have come and gone, as I turned out to have a very large appetite for them once I got started. Even back then though, I'd read around enough to know that patek was a big deal, and the 5711 was a special and widely respected piece. As the store seemed almost empty of customers that day, I had dropped in, out of the snow, to try on the sub again.... They never minded showing me on any occaison, I got given a coffee and we talked about my love of watches, and how I wanted a rolex to be my next venture...On this day, the dealer asked me, if I wanted to know where I'd end up in a few years.... he said that my passion a
