New from Techne: The Merlin Collection
Popular “budget” brand, Techn�� looks to have another winner on their hands with the recently released Merlin Collection. The military inspired pieces – reminiscent of airplane cockpit instrumentation and early mil watches – are available in a time (with seconds) only or a multi-function version. ?The movement inside of each is a Seiko Instruments quartz movement, specifically the VD78.A quick look at the specs reveal a very moderate 38mm size with 20mm lugs and a mineral crystal. Water resistance is shallow at 50M, which is logical for a watch with pilot-styling. The watch has a number of options for the strap at purchase: NATO, canvas or cowhide leather options are available for each model. Omega boutiques know nothing
Went to the Omega boutique in westfield stratford to see the 007 display that ended today, the display was great with some of the watches from the films and other bond props. Got talking with a sales rep and said wouldn't be buying another Omega as they don't give discounts and all the AD's are going, he said Breitling was going the same way as they had a boutique and you can't discounts from them or from the Tag Heuer boutique thats there. Funny when I went into the Breitling boutique and Tag Heuer boutique I was offered discounts in both. Looks like it is only Omega boutiques that can't offer any discounts.

Etched Crown
Did Rolex stop etching the crown onto the crystal? Just got a new DJ 116200 from an AD, but no etched crown on glass.
